There are trainers... Those are considered cheats I suppose.

Yes, the trainer utilities definitely are. Fortunately, I didn't learn they existed until after I'd already learned to play without them. I should think those would be a terrible crutch to get used to and then have to learn to do without. I was very fortunate to have Bede for a "trainer" in a couple of Succession Games...and he does NOT believe in any type of cheating.

I've found that the really enticing, addictive thing about the game is it's almost infinite variability--like chess on steroids. Every game can be original and new, or you can refight old wars. The creativity of the online community from around the world is also very cool, like when I was on the original Napster. "God Bless Sid" - Amen!

Read Crackers article on opening moves in the war academy. If you know half of that you'll get to regnet in no time, it's an amazing article.
