I took a little break off of creating units but I'm back at it now.
I came up with this Baron Triplane as a special unit for Germany.
This plane was made famous by Manfred von Richtofen (AKA "Red Baron")

I haven't decided on specs for the unit yet. Any suggestions?

Here is a preview:

I'll be sure to drop in here from time to time, it would be great having an earlier aircraft unit. Think you could also make it more generic, so I could use it a standard unit? Like change the colour, and with no insignia. That would be much appreciated.

That's exactly what I was thinking. This UU thing leaves open a lot more opportunity for modders, I'm glad they included it.

It would be good as a UU for Germany because it was Von Richtofen who made the plane famous. His skill as a pilot matched the planes agile attributes perfectly. The style of plane itself was not unique to Germany it was originally designed for the allies. The Germans got a hold of one and their major plane designer Focker (sp?) made some improvements on the design.

Also Von Richtofen was the only one to piaint his plane red. Thus the nickname "Red Baron".

Wait, wait, wait !

1st:
His name isn't 'Focker', but Fokker

and

2nd:
He was a Dutchman and not a German

(I should know: look under location ! :D )

Interesting. Manfred von Richtofen was German though and he flew for Germany, so I still think this should be a unique unit for Germany, but thank you for the clarification.

I apologize for not working much on this unit. I will begin working more on it now since I now have a little moe free time.

LOL :D

I believe we had a little misunderstanding....

I didn't mean to say Von Richthofen was a Dutchman, because he was a real German....

Fokker was a Dutchman. :crazyeye:

LOL:D

Sorry about that...

I know that Fokker wasn't a German, but he did the design work for all (or most) of the German planes during WWI.

In some cases he took a design done by the allies and improved it. Untill he put a timing mechanism on the machine guns mounted on planes the bullets that didn't pass between the propellar would simply ricochet back at the pilot.

His work brought about German dominance in the skies.
