After 3 redesigns, it is finally complete. It is the Canadian
Halifax Class Frigate. I have included a bit of history
about the ship as well as install instructions
in the readme file. It includes default, run, death
and attack animations. There are 4
different death animations, depending on which
way your ship is facing when it is sunk
(8 directions, 4 different death animations) Also, being its
a missle carrying ship, the attack animation includes a
missle being fired as well as its main gun firing.
I would place this ship between the Battleship and
the Aegis and give it bombardment ability. All
the civ colors work with this ship.

Below are some previews, there is a little bit of bobbing in
the previews, this does not happen in the game animations.

Hmmm nice , looks very much like the German Köln Class !!

- you should make the unit a nit lower (the bow is too high up over the water)

- a really nice model, but it would be even greater if you would increase the deatil level and textures :p

I like your frigate. It really does look like that german frigate I think because the german frigate has a higher profile than the canadian one.

Anyways, any new canadian units are badly needed to give canada some UUs. Keep 'em coming Doragon. The canadians tend to get overrun by the americans in my game so they need all the help they can get.

:D

looks very much like the German Köln Class

The resemblence is striking. Does it have a helicopter
pad on the back as well? (weren't the kolns made in the 50's?)looks as though the back buildings are larger on the Koln as well.

I could have spent a ton more time putting a mass amount
of detail on the hull, but you lose most of it when you
resize it to civ3 size.

The hull is a little high compared to the other ships in the
game at some angles, your right. But its not
hugely different as to look to unrealistic. If you's want i'll
do a revision and lower the hull, it doesn't look that bad to me.
It should be just a matter of changing the angle on
the 3d model (show less hull and more of the top of the ship), but I did the animations in PSP, so I don't look forward to the prospect of doing that again soon. Here is a picture in game to compare.

Winter, in the background of the german frigate picture, what is that industrial area all about? Those crane things like pumps. Oil pumps??? I think not. I'm surprised to see such an built-up industrial complex in a country like Somalia.

As far as the hull being to deep, it gives it a bit of a cartoonish feel compared to the other ships. A bit of a shave on the bottom would do wonders I think.

That's Saudi Arabia ;)

The aging Köln and Brand new Emden were on patrol between Saudi Arabia and the Horn of Africa... the Americans didn't like the idea of going through the Suez straights, so we did.

To Doragon:
Yes, the bulky compartment in the rear is a twin hangar for Linx helicopters. Hmm, don't know right now when they were built but not that old... 80s- right now Germany is building new frigates and corvettes like crazy

I agree, its a great unit. A lower profile would make it perfect. :)

I dont know if Winter's picture is Mogadishu from the angle, but there is a large port there. That could be it. Or are you sure its Saudi?

Here's Mogadishu.
Notice the ship wrecked near the breakwall (top left).
Its a WWII Italian troopship. The Somolis arent very tidy.

I agree, lower in the water, less wedge-like at the front, and a bit more colour and detail and this will be a top-notch unit:D
