Hooray.
Ok, I have only glanced at the rest of the unit, but this might be your best "1st draft" yet.
There are those looping issues.... makes the whole thing seem a little rough.
There is some room for improvement. The attack flaps out a little to the side and ends up not quite pointed directly at his foe but roughly 10degees off.
He is holding the spear too close to the head (tip), he is holding it at roughly the 1/4 to 1/3 mark on the spear, he should be holding it at the 1/2 way mark (or really close) I'm guessing this was in an attempt to stay away from the edge of the frame? You should probably consider a slightly larger frame so you can animate how you see fit with out fighting the frame. Just make the frame larger, and then zoom out by the same amount. So if you go from your 100x100 to a 120x120, you would need to zoom out 20%.
You should probably not use that run with spears. The spear is too high and also it drags on the ground (pokes through).
There are several times he moves his feet. When he does this you need too have him lift his feet well off the ground and not slide them. For example, in the fortify.
You should try and include at least a basic victory. This helps when he is promoted, and when he enters a good hut, and smoothes out the transition from attack back to default.
The death is nice, but the sheild and spear float a little. Have them hit the ground faster. I'm close to done with a spear unit, I'll post a preview so you can see what I'm yappin about.
The skin tone is just right. The over all look is good. Flaws are fairly minor (and fixable, nudge nudge). And the unit is immediately useable with or without updates.
