Here is the Aztec/Mesoamerican Swordsman. I know the name is a mouthful, but that doesn't mean your fingers can't type it. ;) I hope you all like it. Sorry, no animation preview this time.

Is this a historical unit? If yes, do you have any information about it?

No, it's not a historical unit, but it is based on discussions about how traditional mesoamerican weapons and such might have developed into iron weapons. It's supposed to represent a sort of swordsman for mesoamerican civs. It's based on a drawing by ShirroKobbure. There was a thread started by Sword_of_Geddon, if you want to find information to make a civiloPedia entry for yourself.

since we are on the subject of non-historic meso-american units, I think some cavalry units for the mayans, aztecs, and inca would be much appreciated by many people. I know these civs didn't have horses, but I don't think they had iron-working either, so lets not let that limit us. I for one would be satisfied with something like a jaguar warrior riding a horse as an aztec knight, or a chasqui scout riding a llama  Great work over all Utahjazz and here's to more units of a similar nature
