    New version inbound. It's very stable, so I'm moving it up to a full release.

    What's new since the last preview topic? See text diff here.
    Major diffs: Puppets generate 0.25 Unhappiness per Population, and Zulu unique promotions nerfed.

    @G: Does the tech scaler increase mean that the Unhappiness-to-Techs curve is steeper (i.e., more Techs discovered means higher Needs and more Unhappiness) than before?

    Espionage:
    • Decreased value of early game spy power by 100 (50% weaker) - this value scales downward with Era, so spies naturally get better as the game progresses
    This is presumably to nerf England?

    I'm not convinced it is enough to make England less annoying in the early game. I'll put them as a rival civ and see how it goes.

    I like most of the tweak, except the "Decreased the amount of happiness gained from scaling population from luxuries (was 20/150, now 40/250)". I was already feeling like the scaling was a little low.

    Thanks for the patch, I'll download and give it a try. I like probably all the changes though making happiness even harder to manage is not a thing I am enthusiastic for. Still, hope I can get me some Benevolence for my Sam Murray army.

    Looks like another stellar round of balance improvements and fixes.

    But looking at the puppet changes, it looks like Domination victories as Venice will now be much more difficult as the Unhappiness from puppets will play a huge factor for them. Question: Do buildings that generate Happiness directly (Zoos, Fealty Castles, etc.) still work if built in a puppet city? That is, can +Happiness buildings be used to combat large-pop puppet Unhappiness when built within puppetted cities? If not, you may want to add something to the Arsenale di Vezezia that provides some sort of scaling Happiness with # of puppetted cities. Domination Venice is going to have 20+ puppets on Large/Huge maps which is going to generate 100's of Unhappiness in the late game when puppets have ~16-24 population each. They need something to combat this since Venice doesn't have the option to annex.

    The AI on Warlord was sitting on 100+ happiness regularly before this change. I believe in you.

    I love these changes. I’m actually really excited for easier marsh and jungle starts. I think it will make more starts viable! Variety is always good.

    I'm not complaning about the fact that the Happiness is difficult to handle. I'm complaining about the fact that experience-wise, the influence of luxuries on happiness seems negligeable compared to the influence of citizen micro-management and buildings in your empire.

    Edit: more precisely, I find that selling luxuries you have in only 1 exemplary is frequently worth the gold in mid game, and that it will be even more the case now.

    Yeah my only thought with happiness is if Venice is going to be able to compete.

    Also have you added the War Weariness spy information on war screen?
