Hey all, I'm new to the Scenario Creation world, and I'm looking for a little guidance. I'm using the Classic Civ 2 game, but I have downloaded the zips Civ 2.78 and Civ MGE1-5 in order to enhance my scenario creating abilities. I've noticed in just playing around with the new features that whenever you edit a unit, it gets updated into the game for good, and there doesn't seem to be any way to change it. Am I missing something, or is there some way of preventing this from happening? Also, if there are any good tutorials on scenario creating, could someone point me to them? Help a rookie out ya'll! Thanks so much!

Do those patches come with scenarios? I didn't think so...
In that case, create a new folder called SCENARIO in the main Civ2 directory, you can then create separate folders inside it for each scenario. That's how it's done for the scenarios that came with the add-ons. By the way, I think when using the Civ2 editors such a folder is created automatically.
Make yourself familiar with the Cheat menu, the Civ2 editors (although you're probably better off using separate text and image editors), and have a look at the .gif and .txt files (most notably the units.gif and rules.txt) in the Civ2 directory. Download some scenarios to see what they've done and how they did it.

As for some good tutorials, here are three excellent ones (please read them in this order as well):

No problem... I'm not exactly the scenario wizard either, but what I told you is basically a crash course in scenario making.
Most scenario guides already assume you're familiar with every aspect and they just help you with the oddities and difficulties you encounter. I also have to note that these 3 guides are quite old (the 2nd was based upon the 1st and the 3rd in turn based upon the 2nd), but they're a good start at least. The third one is still seen as the definitive scenario making guide.

If you want to make scenarios, start small (unless you are sure you get everything), and play and "investigate" other scenarios.
