Civilization VI - Game of the Month 41

Welcome to the 41st game in the 6OTM Series! These games will allow new and old GOTM fans to try out the new features in Civ6 in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. We will be working to refine the 6otM concept as we move ahead with the series.

Must Read!
We would like to ask you to abide by our most sacred rule: Don’t replay any turns! If you make a mistake, accept it and try to recover. To ensure fair play and prevent results exclusions, please set your Autosaves to 1 turn. In the event of a computer crash while playing, just reload to the previous save and play it as closely to how you played it the first time. Please let Leif know (via Conversation (Private Message)) if you experienced a crash and how many turns you replayed.

Information about threads associated with each individual 6otM -- Must Read if you are new to our Game of the Month!
Please note: If you wish to make a video of your game, please do not post any links to it until after the game submission date has passed. This is because of the potential spoilers that are created by posting before the end date. Thank you for your cooperation.

Spoiler :
Announcement thread (this one): This thread is used to announce the game and clarify the settings and rules (don’t be afraid to ask questions). It’s also used to discuss the game before you start, and post problems with opening the save. Once you have opened the save, DO NOT POST in the Announcement thread, even non game-related information. Instead use the next thread.

Opening Actions thread: This thread is used to discuss the game's opening decisions and strategies through the first 100 or so turns. Here you can post questions related to the game and share your achievements/anger/frustration/victories while you play. We encourage players to use the spoiler tags for screenshot. During the time the game is active, please do not post any information concerning the game outside of the spoiler threads including screen shots, videos, or recorded/live-cast Let's Plays on other websites.

After Actions thread: In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss date and final score (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Some players like to replay the game, and although we will not record the results from a replay, you can still post your new experiences. The game will not be closed as such, but after one month, the results will be compiled, and will not necessarily be updated with reports coming in after the finish date.

This looks really awesome!!! I've never played a Domination game with India, but the combination of Arthashastra and Varu (Charge, Marauding) makes me think one can win without researching further on the lower part of the Science table (normally I'd go to Stirrups for Knights) - thinking HB Riding, smattering of other nice early techs, strongly likely to include Currency at this level (3g Varu maintenance - ugh!), then off to Cartography & Square Rigging. Just have to be the one declaring war and time it so you only need 10 turns to want peace or be ready to declare another war.

Although I know I want a relatively early pasture for the HB Riding eureka, my initial inclination is to settle on the cattle for the +1 food in capital and +2 production square in the first ring as well as (at least what I can see) more capital production chops in the first 2 rings. I somewhat also like moving to the horses for an immediate item to trade, but less chops and initial production have me strongly leaning against it. Settle in place seems ok also with horses in 2nd ring for somewhat early trade, but dislike early production until a worker helps.

And I really want to get Galleys out early in case this is one of those continents maps that doesn't need Cartography. However, at Deity level it is not good to get sidetracked and fail in the main mission of first surviving and conquering your closest neighbors. I'll assume I need Cartography unless and until a galley discovers otherwise.

Not sure which way to move the warrior (N, W, or S) - I try to stick to open terrain to start for faster movement; probably just flip a coin (or roll a die) and then send my initial scout the other way.

@Eyswein - keep in mind the possibility of Deity barb horsemen; they'll ruin your whole day . On another note, can't wait to start this one :mischief:.

+2 Movement and +5 Combat Strength for the first 10 turns after declaring a War of Territorial Expansion.
Can someone remind me the requirements to trigger a "War of Territorial Expansion" CB?

I'm thinking of moving the settler 1 tile East to get the 6/4/4 tiles in my first ring. And moving he Warrior SW+W to make sure that's a lake.

@CPWimmer War of Territorial Expansion "You must have 2 cities within 10 tiles of 2 of the opponent's cities for this Casus Belli to apply."
However, I am playing the game right now and I got the Casus Belli against an AI against whom I had only 1 such city. Not sure if it is a bug or not.

Also you can move your mouse over the water tile and a mouseover tooltip will tell you if its a lake or coastal tile without having to move the warrior.

Most transparently pathetic excuse for moving towards chocolate ever! :)

I hate you! I can barely get by on Monarch level... Immortal was a wash, and now Deity will be a joke, like Germany vs S Korea in the WorldCup

Then let's lose with dignity! Not like Germany... 0-2.
