    Civilization VI - Game of the Month 63

    Welcome to the 63rd game in the 6OTM Series, and the first game in the Gathering Storm expansion! These games will allow new and old GOTM fans to try out the new features in Civ6 in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. We will be working to refine the 6otM concept as we move ahead with the series. Gifting of cities is an exploit in a religious VC as the AI cant see that it will lose if it accepts the cities.

    Suleiman's Unique Attributes:

    Suleiman's Special Ability: Grand Vizier: Exclusive unique Governor with military and diplomatic abilities. Gain the Janissary unique unit when the Gunpowder technology is researched.

    Unique Ability
    : Great Turkish Bombard: +50% Production towards siege units. All siege units gain +5 Combat Strength against district defenses. Conquered cities do not lose Population. Cities not founded by the Ottomans gain +1 Amenity and +4 Loyalty per turn.

    Unique Unit: Janissary: Ottoman unique Renaissance Era unit that replaces the Musketman. Starts with a free promotion. Stronger and cheaper than the Musketman. To train a Janissary a city must have a population of at least 2. If a city is founded by the Ottomans and trains a Janissary it loses a population. Requires the knowledge of Gunpowder, 20 Niter and 1 population to build them.

    Unique Infrastructure: Grand Bazaar: A building unique to the Ottomans. Accumulate 1 extra Strategic resource for every different type of Strategic resource this city has improved. Receive 1 Amenity for every Luxury resource this city has improved. Requires the Technology of Banking and a Commercial Hub with a Market to build them.

    Special Unit: Barbary Corsair: Ottoman unique Medieval era naval unit that replaces the Privateer. It costs no movement to coastal raid. Can only be seen by other Naval Raiders unless adjacent to it. Reveals Naval Raiders within sight range. Requires the Civic of Medieval Faires and no resource to build them.

    Not only that, it is an attractive looking start area. Aesthetically, I'd prefer to settle in place, but it probably makes sense to move a tile south-west to start next to the amazing Torres tiles and to be in range of all of them.

    I'm particularly inclined to play with GOTM as it is immortal and I've yet to play seriously with the Ottomans. Domination is the ideal victory condition for Ottomans given their potential to snowball. There could be some very quick finish times.

    Based on Victoria's succinct and to the point "Eye-Popping start with the Torres and Thank You" comment, kb127787's head nod to an "Over-Powered" start and TrailblazingScot expansion of that into an OP "region" with a side of Ottoman snowball domination talent ... I'm in!

    But how ... does it make sense to speculate at this point? I say yes. Great fertile ground for a warrior "locust plague". Sprinkle in a few Archers and Battering Rams and the Continent should yield in short order. Continent domination should coordinate with techs for upgrading Warriers/Swordsman to ocean-voyaging Janissarys. That's the plan in a nutshell ... warrier rout then ocean-going Jannissarys asap.

    Then there's a consideration that the world's largest Civ site, with super talented, experienced GOTM map-makers could throw a curve ball or two (that will be fun to discuss) ... lets move one south-west and find out!

    So many Hammers! And an easy Golden Classical with moving the capital SW and a magnificent Holy Site.

    I haven't played Ottoman yet. This might spoil me for ever playing them again. Thanks.

    Nope, didn't spoil me from playing them again. This Civ is ridiculous. I'm playing a Deity Ottomans game and I have an army of Level 4-6 Janissaries on Turn 120 that cut through everything like a hot knife. I should have done a practice game before GotM.
