Fun game -- and congrats to all the winners.

Can someone please explain to me how the conquest award and shield can go to two players who finished on the same date? There is a 30,000 point difference in their scores (and, not to mention, a bunch of conquest winners who finished between the two but at later dates). :crazyeye:

Guess life just sucks right now if you're Harok. :p

Does anyone know of an article or post that explains the scoring system in detail?

I'm a bit better now, thanks...

Congratulations, kaizer, wouldn't you write something for the rest of us to learn?

Thanks to the staff for another truly interesting experience!

Unbelievable, my first warmongering VC award ever! And as I thought I had played such a lousy game, I didn't even bother to post in the spoiler threads!

Thanks to staff and congrats to all players. :D
@Balthalion: award=fastest finish; shield=lowest scoring (not slowest) finish, for each VC.

Yes, yes... I understand that. (Thanks anyway, though. ;)) But how could the point spread be so huge?

And as I thought I had played such a lousy game
exactly as me  Congrats to you especially! as to me! :p

Congrats winners!

I have no words to say anything to jesusin.. You'v lost 1 diplo-move only.. What a pity!

Thanx to the staff!

Map looked easy for the first only. My over expansion slows me down. 8 cities in 350BC Killed my science almost to zero.

I think the big difference in score can probably be attributed to me razing instead of keeping cities, I think I had a total of 5-7 cities at the end. I only researched a handful of techs and while I can't remember the build details of the game now, knowing myself I probably used the whip quite a bit and I almost never pay attention to score and just try for fastest finishes.

I've won an award before with a tie date so paybacks are only fair. :)

Plus I didn't feel like I played a great game (should have gone for Chariots and HAs) so I didn't expect to get an award and my favorite part of the XotMs is comparing games, the awards are just an extra bonus.

Congrats to Jovan Kukic and all the other award winners.

Thanks to the staff as always for your time and efforts.:goodjob:

With a new improved map generation algorithm, just for Xmas!

The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

Congrats to Conquistador63 for the Domination award. I'm glad you got it- I've felt terrible ever since I took the last one from you

Congrats to Jovan Kukic for the Conquest award. An impressive time for a first attempt on this map!!!

And yay me, more hardware :)

Congratulations to all winners! :)
Next time I'll make a desicion of way to win more quickly, not at moment I've got to submit the game. I'll beat your results. ;)

jesusin sorry for delay. I`m written report. I`m need translate for russian-english

That's very kind of you! I'll wait patiently.

Congrats to all of the winners ... :D:goodjob:

And thanks as always to the staff! :goodjob::D:goodjob:

Played a sloppy game and so all it was good for at the end was a run for the cow, and my first BTS space ship (to see how long the flight would take).

Liz was threatening a cultural win before my ship, so I ended up with some 50 spies in her third culture city, making it revolt every turn to freeze it at 43,000 or so  Way more than I needed, but I was new to this technique, so better safe than sorry ...

Would have gotten that cow, except that Ronald the industrial strength dairyist had other ideas ...

Congrats to Wicken and all the gauntlet players... (using challenger save going for space victory)
Wicken won with earliest date 1828AD challenger save

Damn, missed top 3 in points by about 2k :(. No more challenger saves for me.

I like my game time though. I was 2nd or 3rd fastest (just under 75 minutes) behind two people who retired early :p.

I consider my game to be rather weak. The result would’ve been worse, if not for a couple of lucky outcomes. Due to enormous number of mistakes, I’ve lost 10-15 turns on finish date. And I’m furthermore surprised to beat the master like you.

Picked a location for capital with hills and water – your location was better, but the habit to keep close to water had its say.
2920 – stole worker from Alex, ceasefired and started waiting for the next – key mistake, as the expanding borders pushed my troops away 1 turns before the attack, therefore had to fight for a long time, final assault against 4 archers at 40% culture defense. Managed to catch his settler and thus gained 2nd worker. Finished him at 825BC, getting diplo negatives from Boudicca. Late 725 BC Oracle for CService. Despite low GP probability (Oracle in 1st city, Shrine in 2nd) had GProphet first, and another one during studing Electricity with 4% probability.
Then Pyramids 300BC, settled Stone city for them, and not in the best place due to Alex war. Missed GLhouse.
25AD – HG
350AD – GLib
880AD – my axe found a goody hut defended by a barb warrior next to the cultural boundaries of 2 civs; learnt Calendar and the very next turn got Astro from the hut – 1st time in my life. However, this just a bit offset my drastic mistake – already started Edu when noticed I’m 1 city short from the 6 required for Oxford, which delayed it for about 10 turns: 500AD Edu, 1000AD Oxford.
The third mistake was too long keeping 100% cash while building Oxford, therefore had 600+ cash when I finished the tech path – could’ve been about 5 turns of research.
Then things went rather smoothly – 2 GS for Physics, 1 GS for Electro (wanted 2), 2 GA for Mass Media. Picked Radio with Liber at 1160AD, Mass Media at 1190AD (was 3 beakers short the turn before). Therefore UN (1200AD) 1 turn later, which cost me extra 3 turns. Launched GAge for -1 turn due to Anarchy.
Gifted UN – specially for this took a forested city from William, and quickly built it with forest and 1GE.

The hardest thing was to get elected GSec, as I was opposed by my best buddy Saladin, and the third-pop Pacal had +11 with me and +12 with him. Signed up Saladin to attack Boudicca (-1 from Pacal) and switched to HRule (+1 from Pacal), so I was elected. The second vote posed no difficulties. At the finish line waged some war with maces and airships – rare combo

translated Lexad, for which many thanks to him

Thank you, kaizer (and Lexad).

Very similar games, very similar dates. I should have done a CS sling instead of a CoL sling. I shouldn't have ignored stone and should have built Pyramids.

I was ahead by a few turns at Oxford, but 1 turn late at Liberalism, 3 turns late at MM and 4 turns late at UN. Well done!

Wow! I received a shield ... lowest scoring cultural.

Hmmm.... still neat for me. Never made this list ...

But, it's kinda like saying,

" The race is not always to the swift,
nor is the battle always to the strong,

{but that is sure as HeQ the way you had
better bet your money !!} "

Hee hee ... gotta love my new shield...
