This game with its somewhat unusual start saw some remarkably early victories – and some good results for GOTM staff! A welcome return to babybluepants, who used to play regularly and also ran some games. After an absence of some years babybluepants has come back in style with domination win in 475AD. In sheer speed fellow staffer, neilmeister came next with the fastest religious win in 820AD. Sadly, neither win provide a big enough score to secure a medal, but the next fastest did: Jovan Kukic’s 940 AD fastest conquest, winning the silver medal. The gold, and the cow, was taken by hhhawk with a 1575 AD domination that scored over 250K points, while bronze went to Pangaea, for a most impressive 1610AD (fastest) space win. It’s not at all often that we see a space win that early!

Unusually, all three medals happened to be fastest victories. Zhary pulled up the only other fastest victory – a diplo win in 1270 AD.

    Well done everyone!

    Summary of Medal Winners:

hhhawk: 1575 AD Domination Victory, 250,846 points.

Jovan Kukic: 940 AD Conquest Victory, 198,476 points.

Pangaea: 1610 AD Spaceship Victory, 179,932 points.

    Fastest Finish Award Winners:

Zhary: 1270 AD Diplomatic Victory, 89,174 points.

neilmeister: 820 AD Religious Victory, 83,678 points.

babybluepants: 475 AD Domination Victory, 70,704 points.

    Other Award Winners:

    UB40: 1655 AD Conquest Victory, 88,909 points.

afker: 1905 AD Spaceship Victory, 42,686 points.

greatbeyond: 1906 AD Diplomatic Victory, 36,509 points.

donsig: 1951 AD Domination Victory, 26,289 points.

Here's where everyone settled. Quite a wide variety of choices.

    The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

kcd_swede and I both beat hhhawk's domination date (but not his score). No awards for us
    Spoiler welcome back indeed :
    Curse you babybluepants :aargh:

    Welcome back.
We do prefer more participation. Winning as the only players really wouldn't be satisfying.
    Spoiler :
and no players would put me out of a job.

These results do seem unusual. I had a poor performance, finishing a few spots below my usual "middle of the pack" ranking. But hhhawk's top-ranked victory only came 130 years before mine, instead of the typical millennium or so. On the other hand, babybluepants did achieve his victory more than a millennium before me, but the game mechanics awarded him a lower score for that accomplishment.

Congrats to the victors--oh, hey, that means everyone!

Oh noes, bad tidings. When I have won a medal earlier, it has always been silver. Been a collector of sorts :D

Some fantastic dates in there, and especially the early domination is impressive. 1270AD Diplo is seriously fast too!
