As mentioned previously, this mapscript in specific is rather brutal when it comes to barbarians.
When you reach 1AD, you can look at my experience in that spoilerthread. :)

Glad to have you onboard BOTM!

Tobiyogi - Welcome to Game of the Month! :band:
    yup :agree:

Also, after you have loaded the save, you should not post in the announcement thread. There are played-to-1-ad and submitted-game spoiler threads available.

I will try my best to survive. I have played Highlands before, but deity barbs are brutal. They do not wait for you to be ready for them :wavey:

Alright. Too late... hopefully my post was rather general and not too specific....
Thanks for the musical welcome ceremony!

When I was first playing civ4 friendly multiplayer (2008?), one of my friends liked the Highlands map as a challenge. Maybe it was Warlords as house rule was No Great Wall. Probably only Noble difficulty though.
Fippy says if Barbs are disabled, it isn't true deity.

    Test Save!!??
I don't even test these games anymore. :mwaha:

I think there is too much unknown about the starting area to make any test game based on starting screenshot valid.

^^ I am pretty sure it will avoid me some silly mistakes and allow optimizing builds/worker management for the first 30 turns. I guess I 'll have to worldbuildered one. :help:

I remember I did a test save at BOTM 162, can be really helpful to avoid some serious blunders.
But then again... I lost my second city to barbarians in that game. >_<

Yeah, I made my mind about starting location and the superior wasn't what I would have settled at first... though the problem with test games is it's endless... I am now doing a Justi game with the same settings to get a feel of highlands instead of actually playing the game  :smoke:

I saw 'epic speed' and perked up. To me, that means it's time to beat one of the all-time fastest finish dates.

Or, if one had the time, highest score. Let's see...
777K is the highest (conquest), but there are other, lower high scores on other VCs

Those of you that started the normal speed game are out of luck :(

    Hello everybody!
I've never played a game of the month before and would very much like to try it out. Unfortunately after installing Buffy and trying to load the savegame I get a Mod Error saying
"Mods\BUFFY-3.19.005\ is an invalid mod directory, ignoring" and then it crashes.
What could be the problem? Do I have a wrong version of Bts installed, is it the directory name or what?
    Thanks

Very nice to have your company!!

I recall that I have had some similar problem (and I have sort of the same problem with BAT it seems).
I think @lymond know these things pretty well.

Anyway, here is how the shortcut I have placed on the desktop that says "Buffy5" looks:

    Target:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\BUFFY-3.19.005

    Start in:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods"

It could be something so simple as a spacebar sign missing. :)
    How does your shortcut look?

Actually I don`t have the steam version of Bts but Sid Meier`s Civilization 4 Complete installed and patched to 3.19
Could that be the source of the problem?

    No, not at all.
In fact, I think the consensus is that the standalone version is better in almost all ways.
I have had many different problems with my installation. Last time I had troubles I did buy a standalone version. I have not yet migrated to it, but I intend to do so next time I experience some troubles. :)

How does the shortcut look for you?

Well I didn`t have a shortcut, I just used standard Bts to load the mod automatically when opening a savegame. So I now created a shortcut but the effect is the same. It loads the mod fine but when I try to open the save it crashes.

    Target:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=/BUFFY-3.19.003

    Start in:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Mods"

Not sure this is the problem, but in your target, the last backspace is turned this way: / in my target, it's turned the other way around like this: \

Also, you have BUFFY-3.19.003 in your target, this can't be right?
