BOTM 204: Bismarck of Germany.

For people who love deity games - this is a pure deity, on an unedited map. So you can get into the Christmas spirit of peace and joy and axemen and catapults. Enjoy!

Victory Conditions:
All enabled

Map settings:

Bismarck is Expansive and Industrious, and you start with Hunting and Mining.
The Expansive trait gives +2 health/city and +25% hammers for worker production and double production speed of Granary and Harbor

The Industrious trait gives +50% wonder production and double production speed of Forge
Unique unit: Panzer (replaces Tank)
The Panzer benefits from: 50% combat bonus against armor units. This compares with the Tank which has: no directly comparable benefits.

Unique Building: Assembly Plant (replaces Factory)
The assembly plant can turn 4 citizens into engineers (as opposed to 2 for the factory). Also, unlike the factory, the assembly plant builds 50% faster if you have coal.

Note that in this game, any espionage-culture victories will be counted as cultural victories.

Adventurer Class bonuses:
You play on prince level (but the AI still start with deity units - 2 settlers, a worker and tons of archers each - so it'll be a pretty hard prince game)

To Enter the Competition:
This competition will open at 00:01 am on 24 Dec 2020, server local time (UTC-6:00). From that date and time, you'll be able to get your chosen starting save >>>here<<<.
Submit the save after your victory (or defeat) here, by 1 Feb 2021.

Opening this thread was like opening a present! Thanks, Santa. Even if what you gave me was a lump of coal... Looks hard.

Fishing...I don't like fishing especially when I use industrious or philosophical leader.

Gah, how do we start? Fishing? Or Ag+AH? Lots of forests --> early BW? Pangaea means we especially want to grab land early, right? Push Wheel research earlier than usual to connect cities and speed expansion? And then on to Pottery for half price granaries and faster expansion? Although we're Industrious, Oracle is probably even more hopeless than usual because it's so far off the needed-techs path. Beeline Alphabet for tech trades because we're more likely to meet AIs early, and to build research because REX will trash our economy/research rate? Are any Ancient Wonders worth trying for?

you don't need Ag to get AH. Don't get Ag if it's dry rice.
OK, that's one question settled. :) Please continue! Fishing or AH first? Worker won't have much to do after a pasture, unless we go for Wheel or BW.

Pangaea means we especially want to grab land early, right?
I think Pangaea usually means starting the war machine ASAP.:ar15:Since all AIs are on the same continent and they start with extra settler and worker, it's usually hard to find space for 5+ cities before your neighbors surround you. Aim horseback riding if you want horse archer rush; aim math& construction if you want to fight a catapult war; aim compass or aesthetics if you are poor. We don't have many choices but blood and iron when facing deity AI. Unless you want to try early AP victory.

Actually for such a starting location, BW first is also possible. Build worker- another worker( first worker chopping~) -workboat-workboat.

assuming SIP, you can't get horses in your BFC (unless you're standing on them) and cows is not good food anyway.
Regardless, I'd go fishing 1st cus on Deity you need some coins (usually from a gold/gems start), but you'll have to settle for 4 from 2 clams.

Scout northeast, then northwest? Or just Northwest right away to see if there is something fun in that direction?
Capital 1E from starting location looks kind of nice, always nice to be on top of a hill and one would grab a ton of lakes with that move, perfect location to turtle up in case some warmongerer turns up next door, as the lakes/clams won't be pillageable. Moai could be affordable eventually even w/o stone, and pangea gives much higher odds to land GLH which could be helpful if we get boxed in and need to hug the coast.

Could grow on a warrior on the rice while teching fishing, but settlement 1E could lack two 1F2H tiles...

Tricky start. Won't begin on this game for a while, but looking at the screenshot, I'm thinking to SIP. Awkward to tech Fishing first here, but probably should be done? But a worker first seems kinda wasted given there are forests everywhere, so perhaps start with a warrior. Then BW after Fishing, and switch warrior to boat. Or maybe it's still better to start on a worker, that post-BW can help chop boats or settlers.

Maybe scout NW? Two naked tiles there, which may impact things. If I am to move here, it looks more tempting to move west than east.
