    Yeah I hope not. With a bit more food that starting site would make a decent production city, especially for naval units or the the great lighthouse + colossus (moving the capital elsewhere to get a decent bureaucracy capital). Without more food it's not much good - not even enough to mine/quarry and work the visible hills and stone :(

    Talking of stone, I'm increasingly tending to rush stonehenge early - delays initial expansion but if playing a long-term space game, I feel it repays itself in the easier city placement/border pops. And an early priest super-specialist is quite a boost for production and the economy. Looking at that stone, I'd love to use it to do a quick stonehenge-build. But frustratingly, it requires probably too great a tech diversion to do that - would need mysticism, masonry and the wheel when the landscape is screaming, animal husbandry, mining, masonry.

    Yes, that was the connection... my BtS is the English version and therefore doesn't support the letter Ö, so I tried to do it phonetically with oe, so it would be the same in-game and in the announcements. @DynamicSpirit

    Isn't that rule ignored with Raging Barbs? I recall they invaded pretty darn soon in the BOTM 200 and 201 games, while we were still at 1 city in the early game.

    Hadn't played with raging barbs before those games, so it basically caught me unawares.

    You may be at 1 city, but if one of the AI has 3 cities = invasion. So on Deity, it's after anyone in the world settles one time...and that's never you :)

    Regular deity map RB def. invade on turn 12 or so already, so they ignore at least some rules.

    does Random Personalities mean that things like "Can plot at pleased" / whether they build Units / Wonders, and stuff like that is unknowable based on which leader it is?

    I'm pretty sure that's how it works. So you could end up with a giant religion-lovefest between Shaka, Izzy, and Monty, while Ghandi, Mansa, and Asoka are plotting behind your back. Meanwhile Tokugawa might actually be useful for once. Not sure how many traits it actually changes though, especially when it comes to diplo thresholds.

    It's basically a straight one to one exchange of one leader for another in terms of how a leader is coded.. You are playing Leader X with Leader X's traits (e.g. Creative, FIN), but that leader is coded as leader Y. In fact there is a debug for this that lists the random leaders when this option is on, which basically looks something like this:

    Montezuma=Gandhi
    Tokugawa=Elizabeth
    and so on.
    (in other words, there is no gray area here. If playing against Monty in the above example, you are really playing against a Spiritual/Aggressive Gandhi.)

    It's actually interesting as one plays a random game, as you can start to figure out who these leaders really are as more info is gained, such as the favorite civic, which is hidden until..I think..both of you adopt that civic....or maybe when that leader adopts it..forget.

    Technically, Mansa can plot behind your back. He does plot at Pleased, although he has a very high peaceweight.

    Game does the maths for us and compares possible combos when "you have wisely chosen your Civics" appears somewhere :)

    Oh, is that how it works? Wasn't aware we needed to have the civic too, that makes it a little awkward.

    Does it help if two AIs have the same civic, so we see the bonus via diplo, or won't the game "recognise" it then, and show it with the favourite civic icon?

    Time will tell I suppose. Have so rarely played with these settings. One of the only ones was that Deity OCC conquest you set up a good while back, for team play.

    Surely that's obvious.... it'll be Aqua! I mean, who else from Viking lands can match their artistic greatness!
