Congrats to the award winners, especially Lexad in a heavily contested cultural race and chunkymonkey for completing his eptathalon.:goodjob:

Thanks to the staff as always.

Well I am moving up in the awards tables!

I also just found out that I am a king amongst low scoring victory conditions.

Go team!

Congratulations. Once again, a nice and fun learning experience.

Great game Conquistador 63.

I broke 5 figures, I'm happy about that. Can't wait to look at your save. :)

Thanks again to the GOTM staff! I had to be as ruthless as I've ever been in a GOTM just to have a peaceful ending. Was kinda fun. Might have to try that again. ;)

Thanks, Ljdjr! I was worried about not getting it, after I read your and Erkon's spoiler posts. But don't look too closely at my save or you could notice I lost a size 10 city to Genghis early in the game!

Congrats to all, and especially to Htadus for his fast space game, now I'm glad I didn't went for it...:)

Congrats Conquistador 63 :goodjob:

Mutter mutter curses curses, stealing my cow, mumble mumble [pissed]

Congrats to all and Thank you AlanH for the flood plain corn and all those goody huts. Oh yeah to Ceasar for not connecting Iron.

Thank you Conquistador 63 for your kind words. I am glad that you stayed on your planned VC. I was hoping that Lexad also stayed away from the Space Race. Thank you both. :D

Shame on You

Here's where everyone settled in this game. Sorry for the delay in publishing the map.

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

Wow, 5th - my best ever finish. Popping the fastest settler from a hut didn't harm things (which is why there are some cities founded so far away after a decent number of turns).

Could have been better if I'd taken the time to maximise my points score by farming everywhere and if I had timed my attacks on the last few cities better (I triggered the domination limit just before I was about to take 2-3 more cities).

Looking at the winner's save, I was a way behind on techs, though...

Edit: actually, looking back, I was two or three turns from a Conquest Victory and triggered the domination limit before I could, dammit. Is there any points bonus difference between Conquest and Domination victories (assuming that you have the same base score)?

Wow! Some people settled really far away!

What does the blue outline mean?
The map shows all towns settled in the first 15 turns. Some of the towns are second ones, as settlers were popped from huts.

Blue lines are rivers.

The ones in italics are 2nd or 3rd cities. Since I don't think you can build a settler within 15 turns, I'd say it's a fair bet that all those cities were built with settlers popped from huts. So on this game the map tells you who the luckiest hut-poppers were :D

So actually noone settled more than 1 turn's walk from the start position, though given how bad the terrain usually is in the SW of great plains maps, I'm slightly surprised noone did. Personally, I did seriously consider spending 10 turns or so walking across to the Eastern part of the map so I could settle with the guarantee of lusher terrain around me (But as the map shows, I didn't in the end)
