The GOTM Server is currently serving compressed pages on the Civ4 side on a trial basis.
The good news is that it should considerably speed up the more text-intensive pages, such as replay listings, and I have plans that will benefit considerably if I can compress large chunks of data before sending them to your browsers. But I need you to tell me if there is any bad news ....
So, please can anyone experiencing problems with the GOTM site Civ4 pages let me know, either here or via PM?
I have had one report so far from a user behind a company proxy server that seems to dislike compressed pages. For information, this user was able to get around it by using Firefox and disabling compression. This stops the server sending compressed pages.
