And at least one innocent person.
We're not here to assess the potential failures of the justice system.
And at least one innocent person.
I'm more of a rehabilitation guy, but that's not a criminal that needs rehabilitation. While I can't condone the punishment, I am smirking at it.
Agreed, i thought law and order had evolved passed those stages, and while i think this man probably deserves it, its still should not happen, its a bad precedent
Also, this is unjust for the Iranians. Now their society will have two useless individuals, not just one.
I hadn't thought of that. Maybe the eyes could have been put into the woman.
Yeah, who will run around throwing acid in women's faces?
Being useless would be an improvement for this guy
I think that "an eye for an eye" is a terrible idea for justice.
"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind"
Mahatma Ghandi
"If this sentence is properly publicised in the media, it will stop the repetition of such incidents," he told the news website Tabnak. "Awareness of the punishment has a huge deterrent effect in stopping social crimes."

Do you agree with the punishment?
Everyone in Iran throws acid on women's faces. It's like hazing.
Anyways, now his relatives and society will have a blind jerk running around, doing nothing instead of a blind jerk doing 10 years hard labor for the state.
Yeah, who will run around throwing acid in women's faces?
Being useless would be an improvement for this guy
Because the woman specifically asked for this. Why can't they just give him a death penalty?
Read Al-Baqara in the Qu'ran. It specifically allows for "An eye for an eye", unless the attacked party, or the brother of the attacked party, forgives the attacker, in which case a settlement would be agreed upon.
Edit: Its been awhile since I read the Qu'ran though, so I might be wrong.
Hell, 90% of the stuff written in all holy books is an absolutely terrible idea.Just because it's written in the Qu'ran doesn't mean it's not a terrible idea.
We're not here to assess the potential failures of the justice system.
Then don't insist in font size three that there is no potential for failure.
