I'm thinking the 2012 Republican primary is going to be very entertaining.

I have mixed feelings about Newt Gingrich. A lot of what he says is good, but I don't think he'd ever follow through with any of it, and the only parts I'm sure he ever would would be the ones that I disagree with.

This isn't really an official declaration though, is it. So it hasn't really begun quite yet...

Although hardly a surprise that he'd throw his hat in the ring.

Step right up. The first big elephant of the GOP circus has arrived.

First Ghouliani, now this legendary failure. Not to mention Palin, and all those Tea Party nutters.

Man, the Republicans just keep bringing the hits don't they? I wonder who'll come forward next on their ticket...Henry Kissinger anyone? Let's bring back the Nixon years! :eekdance:

The problem is that despite the fact that the GOPers have been having such terrible leaders, they still win elections. So they have no reason to change.

Well, he already has the double-talk down pat.
When Clinton tries to implement health care reform, he cries that 'It will take away Thelma and Louis health care!'. Yet he turns around and shuts down the government and tries to take away their health care.
He cries 'we must protect the sanctity of marriage', then turns around and marries his 3rd trophy wife. You trade in cars for a newer model, not your wife.

Hey, Nixon being back wouldn't be too bad. What we need now is someone with experience in China. Who better than Tricky Dick?

Newt is by far the most crafty republican around.

This is going to be interesting.

I think the Republicans are just getting their weak candidates out of their system this cycle so they can hit hard in 2016 with some proper, next-in-line governor candidates like a Jeb Bush type.

The one good thing I can see about the next ~21 months is that Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Jay Leno and Conan will have more material to work with than they could possibly cram into their respective timeslots.

I wonder what the Russians have to say about this.
