We've lost quite a few units, but that's all right I guess.:) We seem to be mastering the Burgos island soon, and antioch shouldn't be a problem either. We have many new cities, including Trollhatte(a)n. Well done:goodjob:

    Really nice turns :)
I've just looked at the save and there are a few things that caught my attention.

As it is now, Elvis all the way in RC and Elysium
    - Science: 685
    - Gold: 298
When we change to Einsteins in RC and Elysium
    - Science: 743
    - Gold: 298
Or when we change to Einsteins in Elysium, taxmen in RC
    - Science: 716
    - Gold: 334
Without affecting any happiness in both cities!
BTW. Why is Gabba Gabba working a tile in the radius of Elysium? Elysium can grow to size 24 when we take the tile for Elysium, 2 more Einsteins...

Banana Bay is working the Peat of Routskilde??? Put the worker that's working the Peat on ocean and Banana Bay celebrates. Routskilde worker on jungle should be replaced to Peat.
Skara Elvis can work the ocean too. Skara isn't celebrating now so an unhappy dude doesn't matter either.
LC: put worker from grassland to ocean: celebrations!

Thunderfalls, Triticum, Lindow Moss and Eriksson: Elvis can work ocean without causing unhappiness or anything.

Wow. Miss a day due to heavy homework, and all of a sudden architecture's changed and years see to pass by faster. :D

Otherwise, I apoligize for current and possible future lack of posting activity. Homework just seems to pile up, as does the length of posts that analyze the state of our democracy. Then dd to that someone feels it necesary to investigate me the the Civ3 Democracy Game...

In fact, I probably should be in bed right now...

I'm not sure why we are building city walls? Are we worried about an invasion?

We have also irrigated the square where the fourth special is for Elysium, I'm assuming we don't care for the Pheasant or Buffalo we can get?

We need to get spies up to the front lines. They can scout ahead and let us know what units are up there to try and avoid us losing stacks of units, or any units for that matter.

Um, we shouldn't really have any cities that are on the same continent with the AI that don't have garrisons. The AI automatically knows which cities we have that don't have garrisons and will start sending units there. And, generally, in a democracy, this late in the game, Spies are much better units to have as garrisons than Riflemen. They are faster to build, don't require support and can just buy the units that approach the city.

Also, we can use a spy to investigate a Spanish city to get an idea of where Madrid may be.

I still can't find Madrid, and Spain seems to be scattered over many islands (which stops them sending reinforcements easily I suppose). I thought it may be near Barcelona, but even checking regularly for the nearest city hasn't helped. Viga is in disorder, iirc. My plan is to investigate the city and set up an embassy before enlightening them to the ways of NUF. I think after that, the island should be pretty secure for us.

Building walls? That's what I was asked to build. Maybe we are worried about the Indians targetting Elysium.

Citywalls can be changed to supermarket when that comes available, so no worries about wasting shields on building something we don't want. :)

I see you are all coming along fine with the big decisions. I need a deputy. I wonder why we are at 20,40,40% ? At mid turn, I analyzed it carefully and found 20,30,50% would have been fine.

I doubt I will have time today to analyze it again. But it seems Our Queen is generating all of our money and science from Freight anyway, and the 40% Lux is a nice safety valve. So I think either way would work.

If I could plan one thing for you, My Queen, what would it be?

Gabba Gabba: Frt 44/50 in 1, then Harbor.
After one turn PRB £68, that will release the irrigation immediately to Elysium. Once the Harbor is built in 4 turns, the food will stabilize. We could then move another serf to ocean for one turn for WLTK growth, a minor matter.

Sorry I missed that! I'll change it next time. I'm assuming you mean 50% lux? (as in the order of the scroll-bars)

Probably serf changes and Elvii. Most builds are straight forward: temples, engineers, spies and freight. Improvements for our key cities to grow. War units for our campaign to make the world see things our way! Also, civ1 has drawn some lovely maps for settlements.

Someone to suggest rehoming is useful.

Definately need a science poll - which I'll do myself later perhaps.

Could do with poll on the next Wonder build. SoL would be useful for government collapses. UN useful for embassies and controlling the senate better. Hoover Dam could be available in a couple of turns too if we wished.

Quickie, I always mean 20,30,50% as it appears on the screen, the little thing with the population, year, and treasury gold.

    So 20,30,50% means Lux=30% and Science=50%
    So 20,40,40% means Lux = Science = 40%.
Always Tax=20% seems to apply, unless the circumstance is very strange. It happened once or twice way back in BC.
The ShiftT scroll bars are sadly disorienting.

Don't be so quick to change it tho. Analysis at 1710AD does not necessarily apply now. We had amazing growth at Lux=40%, comparing 1660AD to 1754AD as stated above. One week.

Edit: I'll look carefully thru all the cities, as I usually do.
Nice Rail backbone, My Queen. You could connect TFalls with one link, N of TFalls. The Engrs near CJ & MT are right where we want them. They will quickly finish that link, then what? A Road 2NW of CJ would be easy.

I was thinking about that too, and also about the coal we could have SW of Neuma, and the wine north of MD. Now that MD is beginning to send freight overseas, it might increase our bonuses a little bit more.

You can start a new thread to poll or discuss topics in the forum (no sub-forums here). Then post a summary/results in the current game thread (currently this one) so that the president, or DP as you may be use to, can read them before the next round of turns are played.

I think we could easily cut Luxuries back to 30%, so Science goes up to 50%. The important cities of Elysium Civvium Reneaux Marl.Downs and Neuma would still celebrate and grow.

Some cities would need certain adjustments to avoid riot, which can be accomplished readily: Kaupang Aarhus Gordium Banana.Bay Bactra Westness Melampyrum. Of those, several merely need roads.

    40% F5 $307 -49, Sci 713 in 3 turns.
    50% F5 $329 -49, Sci 869 in 3 turns.

Jayne, shall I figure the cities at 50% Science? Objections?

Perhaps this is my ignorance speaking, Gary, but what good would an additional science percentage do for us at the moment if techs still take 3 turns to research? I understand that the techs will get more expensive over time, but at the moment 40% seems to be working fine.

Each thing of science takes X amount of beakers. If X=500, then when we get 500 beakers of science we get the next tech.

Say we generate 200 beakers a turn. So, in three turns we will have 600 beakers, the first 500 will get us the tech then the extra 100 will be carried over to the next tech, so only 400 will be needed for the next tech. With the same 200 beakers per turn, the second tech is now only 2 turns away.

You can add the science we get from freight into all that also, so every beaker we generate per turn is used towards either a current tech or a future tech.

Although science costs increases with each new tech, the assumption above is that the science that we generate also increases to offset the additional cost
