First, we should have the Luxuries at about 20% in Republic. That should take care of most of the unhappiness issues and should actually put some of the cities into celebration.

Viborg has no shields for production.

Banana Bay is currently short three food per turn with only 12 food in the box. Temp fixes can be: put serf to Grassland, city would still be short two food per turn, then send settler over to rehome to Routskilde. Then settler can be used to found new city.

Bedfont lakes has no food for growth, we can move serf to grassland if growth is wanted.

GabbaGabba has no food for growth, we can move serf to grassland if growth is wanted.

Khorsabad is short one food per turn. City is trying to disband. Settler that is supported by city is currently irrigating. Serf can be moved to choice of squares depending upon desired effect.

Mord has no shields for production.

Overall, a very nice transition into Republic. Just be sure to keep the cities out of disorder as to avoid a collapse of the Government.

Sad to lose so many units and a city, but.... that's what they are there for. Very glad that if we were not able to fend off the Spanish at least they were not able to capture the city.

I may be wrong, but I think Elysium, Tfalls and Reneaux will riot if we don't do something like alter the lux rate. And surely if riots continue into 980ad the government will collapse!
 
Lets contact the persians again and see if theyll swap navigation for something we may want.

The Persians began Marco's Embassy in 900AD. We still need Magellan. Isaac requires a Science we are not researching. We have one good Caravan ready to go into Dehli in 3 turns, with no followup.

There are 5 Caravans near REGIA CIVITAS. One is the Valuable Civvium Silver. Others are BFL Wine, TFalls Gold, GG Wine, Ren Spice. Near Elysium is the Demanded MD Salt, and FA Coal. Beast Flats Silk in 2 turns. Ren Food near Monks Towne. Cymru Straits is hiding 2 Caravans, LC and CJ Silk, 5 turns from Elysium. LC just build Beads. That's 13, there is one more Caravan somewhere !?

Celebration and Luxury

If you're wondering how this Celebration works, I just posted my log in Gotm 22 Spoiler (Emperor). Once into Republic, I jacked up Luxuries for 5 turns until I ran out of excess food, and the F11 Manufacturing went from 138 to 163 shields per turn. Then back to 20% Luxuries, and only needed to fix two cities with Temples or Elvis. If you want the save file to try it, just PM me.
 
I still think Marco Polo's wouldn't be worth even half the resources it takes to build. Of the wonders Isaac's is the most important to get.

I thought we were building two wonders, if not we should get a second one started to get both Issac's and Magellan or something else not yet discovered.
 
We were unlucky not to be offered Theory of Gravity last time. I think as soon as Elysium finishes university, we should start a wonder and switch to Issac's when we can. I agree Marco's is not a priority. We can capture it later! ;)
 
Many plans are now needed. Not all of them need polls, perhaps none. Perhaps the only items that require polls are already being polled in Tax Marco 940AD. I pose the following questions to our Citizens, in no particular order. Each of these cries for a short term plan:
  • How shall we deal with the Spanish, the loss of Cadiz?
  • How shall we deal with the Vikings? Legion kills Chariot, but then what? Kill the Catapult, and face retaliation from their Horse? What else?
  • How shall we secure Bactra? Beast Flats Caraval pick up GG Warrior in Khorsabad and deliver up to Bactra? Occupy Fortified Hill? IPRB the Bactra Diplomat?
  • Shall we rebuild the lost Caravel? How soon, where?
  • What about the East Polar Diplomat, now fortified?
  • How, exactly, to disband Khorsabad?
  • BFL Ferry delivers Caravan, then what? Penguin serf to ocean or forest? What to do with the Settler? Go irrigate Beast Flats at last?
  • Boreum Ferry drops Legion at Wheat.South, then what? Rehome anything? Next Ferry job? Boreum build Qs to support expansion, hence work for the Ferry?
  • Two Settlers in Boreum, what to do?
  • We have an extra Dip near Thunderfalls. Guard Dip plan?
  • Serf irrigating near Elysium: Clear.Orders and build Road? Elysium grows in 1 turn.

We need a second unit. They can't bribe units in a stack.

What about the East Polar Diplomat, now fortified?

Pick up dip in the nearby caravel, and proceed east to map out the rest of Bactra Island and see exactly what we are up against. We don't know if we're virtually alone, or have 2 or 3 major Persian cities nearby. I think we'll be reasonable alone there as we know Antioch is further north.

Go found V3, W W of Upps? Viborg Settler?

That's what I would have done if still playing!

Three Settlers near Dellham, 2 more near BB, what next?

Weren't two of these settlers near Dellham on their way to Hill Mine? And one of the BB ones to either found Hill Mine or Lone Bison?
 
Lone Bison is important to be founded ; but what about the North Wheat Island, nearby Vikings coasts ?
 
Random stuff:

Banana Bay- rehome the settler in Ren and switch the serf in BB to the Fruit. This will result in +1 food.

Silk caravans at Cymru- rehome at RC, send one or both to India, maybe one to St. Petersburg.

Nemo Bay could produce Silver for Madras.

The Vikings: I favor taking Hladir first as it will be a much better base for capturing Trondheim. Near term- Legion kills Chariot, then Crusaders kill the Catapult and Phx moves E. Horsemen can then only attack phx with defense of 3 (on forest).

The Spanish: Forget them while the Vikings are pending unless they come over to bother us.

The Indians: I'd like to consider them informal allies unless they show otherwise. They are good trading partners. Let's expire the Great Wall or develop Howitzers before taking them on militarily.

Vikings (re GaryNemo): conservative defense, let them die attacking us until forces can be amassed in the area. Bribe if possible, ESPECIALLY NEARER THEIR CITIES, ARMY OF NONE WILL ROUT THE ENEMY WITH NO SUPPORT, NO MISERIES AT HOME. Once we have operational forces in the area, we can cut them down and they'll be out of our hair for good. Attacking them at this stage will only lose our units (Aside from diplo-sneakiness).

Spanish (MonkE): Agreed; too far away, too irrelevant. Their time will come.

Assuming The People agree with my post now being planned, which will cover Celebration and Settlers, these remaining plans are needed. Several people have posted plans (earlier). I pose these remaining questions to our Citizens, in no particular order:
  • How shall we deal with the Vikings? Legion kills Chariot, but then what? Use the (expendable) Upps Crusader in Viborg to kill the Catapult, and face retaliation from their Horse? What is our defensive plan? MonkE says to move the Viborg Phx E onto Forest to intercept Viking Horse. Sounds good to me.
  • Shall we rebuild the lost Caravel? How soon, where? Elsaak has mentioned the desirability to settle the new Wheat Island, S of Lindholm. When? How?
  • BFL Ferry delivers Caravan, then what? Penguin serf to ocean (Nemo). What to do with the Settler? Go irrigate Beast Flats at last?
  • Boreum Ferry drops Legion at Wheat.South, then what? Rehome anything? (Rather not at this time) Next Ferry job? Boreum specific build Qs to support expansion, hence work for the Ferry?

It would be nice to grow onto the Peat, switch to Caravan 10/50 in 9, Gems. The Settler is irrigating, nothing but trouble. Clear.Orders, West to Upps GLS, Road, then Irrigate, then Upps can finally use the Iron (N!)

Wow, that's alot of info... :eek: Glad someone is able to do it. :)

It looks decent to me....

We could even just kill the Chariot and let the catapult and horseman get closer and kill them both next turn. Even if the horseman runs towards Uppsala, it won't get any farther than the forest square where a Crusader could run it down.
