I was just thinking, America can't be the world's #1 superpower forever. At some point, it will be somebody else.
I personally think that China is most likely to be the world's next superpower after us. They seem to have everything required. They have a large population, but a low birthrate(a stereotypical thing of an industrialized world super-power.) They have a larger population than America, but a lower birth-rate. I don't think they're true communist anymore either. They're farther to the left than even Europe, but not as much as they used to be. China's economy is getting larger and larger all the time. For proof, consider the fact that china has now bought more cars than America.

There are other countries to consider as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but while Europe is feeling as economic crises, it's not as bad as in America. Lets take France for example. Their unemployment rate is 7.5 (according to eurostat anyway)
Americas unemployment rate is 8.1 from here: http://www.dol.gov/
This is mainly because there economic policies are better than ours. Were China
to pull the rug out from under us(we owe them a LOT) Europe would be the western
part of the world, with an economy still in tact. Sure they would suffer, since whatever affects us affects them, but it would indirectly affect them where as it would directly affect us so they shouldn't be hurt as bad as we would from us going
bankrupt.
So I think it's another possibility that western European countries could gain more influence, at an American expense. Middle eastern countries will lose a lot of money/influence as well whenever countries stop using oil for their gas.
You can't forget Japan either...
What do you guys think? Which country do you think will be the next super power?
Please don't say something "funny" like the world's next superpower will be Batman.
