The game is supposed to have rules to protect against this. You must have changed the rules to hell in order to do this. Unless of course you simply haven't discovered rocketry yet.

I`ve seen map seemingly w/o ressources, too. That just means that you haven`t looked thoroughly enough. For example I had a map where all 8 (!) caol were on a 9-tile arctic island......... Talk about strange placement... Same game the only iron had been an island contacting the southpole - inacessible until Navigation....... until 1 popped up under an opponents town.... he almost killed everyone else.....

Yeah, everyone who has this problem should be sure to look under towns. I couldn't find any iron in one game, then found one in the middle of nowhere and cursed until I finally did a "terrain only" map search and found it right under a zulu city smack on my border.

Poor city.

Ctrl-Shift-M will remove all improvements from the view, and hit the same thing to put them back.

And, not to rag on anyone, but the fact that you need the technology to see the resource is in the manual. Despite its many, many flaws, that part is in the manual.
