No civics - help

Forgive me members for I have sinned,

Its been a year or so since my last game,

I have just got a new laptop with windows 7 and have just installed Civ iv and Beyond the Sword, it automatically did the latest patch when installing but didn't say what it was.

My problem is that when I go into the civic screen it has the lists at the top but the rest of the screen just has blank boxes except for the long one along the bottom that only has a cancel tab that doesn't work so I have to escape out of it. Also the civic screen doesn't really fit the computer screen beiong a little cut off at the top and bottom and doesn't fill the screen width wise, not sure if this is relevent.

Having been quite excited to play again and built pyramids (having a warm up on Prince to remind myself) I cant change civics so any harder levels will be unplayable.

Also a minor point probably a patch or unrelated thing but when tying to look at thye combat odds it doesn't give me a perecentage for sucess and i'm crap at maths!

Welcome to CFC!

The ingame update does not work for the latest version of Beyond the sword (it lies and says it has, check advanced>about this build to find out), so it probably isn't patched to date (3.19).

Download it fresh from here, save the file then as you have W7 to run the patch right-click on the .exe and choose run as administrator.

HOWEVER: Problems like the missing civics is often due to the game not being installed using run as administrator as I described for the patch, so if applying 3.19 does not work you may have to re-install the game.
