Yes. Twas Genghis. Don't ask about the details...........
This thread has devolved into senseless debauchery!!!!!! Senseless I tells ya!!!
...I don't think I want details...
Probably involved horses and cooking food on sheilds
Don't forget: when exploring for beaver, one has to not only keep an eye out for crabs, but also be wary of cougars.
Did his Unhealthiness and Unhappiness level go way down?
Some things increase Unhealthiness while at the same time granting a Happiness bonus.
("... like a Forge, right daddy?" -- "Uh, yeah. That's right, son.")
Don't worry, this can be fixed by a Hospital.
Sounds like you need to locate a latex resource?
I always peek via Worldbuilder at the start of a game to make sure I have access to three key resources before getting all invested in a game, the "deal breakers" if you will:
Lacking any of those three? Regenerate the map. Three strikes and the game start is out, back to main menu and start a new game with a new map seed.
Sometimes in a pinch if I see a map that's way too sweet not to play for other reasons (2 gems in a high food city spot, or access to ivory for a mid-game jumbo drive), I'll take on the Cripple Challenge and go conquer a neighbor that does have the iron/coal/oil (which I identify through the worldbuilder scan).
In my game-imagination I call the worldbuilder peek "consulting the Shaman" hehe.
^^^it's also called cheating
I could agree that iron and oil are dealbreakers but coal not really.
Oh and yes i agree with lymond it`s cheating it`s much more fun to discover what resources you have and what resources you dont have to plan your startegy further ,maybe conquering someone who has that resource or figuring out altetnatives for that resources or you could trade the resource you want from some AI.
Also be wary of workers building mines on hills with gold- the dreaded Gold Diggers.
Shoot, that's too much work for me, just turn balanced resources on. If they just would've included Stone and Marble with the strat resources it would be perfect for me.
To me it's less fun to find out I wasted an entire Saturday afternoon playing a piece of crap game on a map where I've been denied iron (no crossbows, no knights, no ironclads, etc.) or coal (no railroads) or oil (INSTAFAIL in the late game), than to have a bit of foreknowledge where some of the other resources are.
Cheating, sure, the game does it all the time. I just give some back.
I actually feel a bit of relief when I don't have marble--less temptation to build shiny sources of GA pollution. It's useful for Oracle but that can be chopped.
Stone hurts more when I don't have it, makes me rethink whether I want to city wall the border cities (or just slam in extra units).
Instead of spending all that time regenerating and restarting maps, why don't you just add one of each resource when you open the WB the first time?
There's no such thing as cheating in a single player game.
That's a possibility. I think the "Balanced Resources" or something similar in the custom game menu will make sure you have Iron, at least.
Sometimes I do swaps, like replace an aluminum with an iron, etc.
Separate names with a comma.
