Another variation would be to add the resources on the edges of your estimated future borders, likely requiring to you to fight over it, but not so difficult to acquire that you need to go all-out war to get it.

This thread went from thread, to mindless debauchery, to boring.

Being a pre-European America civ is nice for this ( Inca , NAs, Aztecs). They all get units that don't require the resource to access , only the technology. While weaker than their standard counterparts , this is where Dog Soldiers and Jaguars really shine.

I think that is because, most people know the answer to this situation.
Select "Balanced" resourses, Not standard in the options during game setup, or try resourseless UU empres.

People say "mindless debauchery" like it's a bad thing.

    My thoughts exactly...

I have no bikini inspection stories, but I can debase the thread again -

I found the best way to get iron & copper is to raise Cathy to Friendly, get her to open her borders, slip a cannon in, give her Rifling and she's likely to trade you whatever you want.

What?! You people suggest, that AI not attack if you give them resources? That is funny. One think I know about Civ. AI will NEVER attack you when you have at least so much power of armies as them and bit more. If you not believe. Save the game every turn, and if they attack you, go load back save, then go world builder, add a huge army, and they never attack. So, for those who not like WB cheats, and not want to be attacked, just build a huge armies and you are save from AI.

Yes, that seems to be good advice to defend against furious civs whom you just gave Crabs to. Do you think it will help if I gift them a city with a hospital? This may help in alleviating some unhealthiness issues.

Realistically, the AI can be beaten w/o strategic resources on any difficulty w/o BBAI and on most difficulties with it.

You won't survive vs humans with metals if you lack them easily, though, because it will turn into a pillage party with mostly spears invited, and that will be hard to stop.

Best advice is fast longbows, hill border cities, and managing diplo properly.
