I can not password protect my civilization in the Staging Room of a Direct IP Connection game to prevent anyone from looking at my civilization from a saved game.

I play games over several nights so everyone has a copy of the saved game.
These games are competitive and we keep score of the games won.
So I would like to password protected my civilization.

I have also found the same issue in LAN games.
All other types of multiplayer games (e.g. INTERNET, HOT SEAT and PLAY BY E-MAIL) allow civilization password protection.

Steps to reproduce the bug.

1. Create a new LAN or DIRECT IP CONNECTION game
2. In the Staging Room, click on the icon to the left of your profile name to bring up the Player Detail screen
3. The "Civ Password" field does not accept any input in the Player Detail screen

This has been an issue since Civ4 vanilla.
I was hoping that it would have been fixed by now but maybe no one has officially reported it.

I only tried this with the most updated version of BTS I would guess it works with the others.

First you must load a pitboss server for your game if using BTS be sure to use the BTS pitboss server which is located in the BTS sub directory.

Create a Direct IP Game
Configure all the server variables you want.
Now you can not have your friends join the game while in the staging room, you need to ask them what civ they want, select how many human players are playing and choose the civs they want for them. Now hit create game and ask your friends to join. When they join the game they will see all the civs created and be able to choose the one you made for them. When they do they will be prompted to insert a password. From that point on when anyone joins that game they must insert the password that that chose to play that civ.

Note for those that don't realize you can host a pitboss server and join it from the same computer.

Hope this helps. I know its an old thread but if anyone is like me they will have been searching just yesterday as I did.
