NEW YORK (Reuters) - Warner Music Group ordered YouTube on Saturday to remove all music videos by its artists from the popular online video-sharing site after contract negotiations broke down.
The order could affect hundreds of thousands of videos clips, as it covers Warner Music's recorded artists as well as the rights for songs published by its Warner/Chappell unit, which includes many artists not signed to Warner Music record labels....
YouTube also has agreements with Vivendi's (VIV.PA) Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Music. Warner's move could see them also making tough demands for higher fees.

well, that's just too bad :( Do you think the other major labels will follow? Or is it just Warner? Will this be the death of the Youtube Music Thread?

Well, I better go buy some albums by Warner now, since I can't watch the videos on youtube.
Indeed, better get down to the record store asap ;)

what musical group or artists under the banner of the Warner Music label? Just curious.

Well Youtube hasn't concede to their demands yet, or maybe never will. I can still watch Black Sabbath, T.I., Van Halen, and other bands.

Atlantic, Warner and Rhino are the major labels IIRC.

No kidding sherlock. Actually Warner Music is just a subsidary of Time Warner.

Yeah, that is where i got the info. But I still see them on Youtube.

Crap, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers are on the list.

I hope they don't comply.

Well if that is so, meaning if they do assent to the pressure from the evil corp of the Music industry such as Warner, then all it will do is create more Youtube like websites where many people will flee to. Chopping the heads of the hydra will only create new heads to take its place, no?

Lots of artists are signed to them. Here's the well-known ones:

AC/DC
Avenged Sevenfold
The B-52's
Black Sabbath
Chicago
Disturbed
Dream Theater
The Eagles
Fleetwood Mac
Green Day
Paris Hilton (Like anyone will miss her...)
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
Linkin Park
Lost Prophets
Metallica
Motley Crue
Megadeth
Nickelback
Panic at the Disco
Radiohead
The Ramones
Red Hot Chili Peppers
R.E.M.
Sex Pistols
Frank Sinatra
They Might Be Giants
Trapt
Van Halen

Well I don't think they will do what the music industry tells them to do. It will kill the website, and that right there is something of a situation that Youtube will find it impossible to do.

This is a another . .. .. .. .. .. .. .. . attempt to destabilize net neutrality by the corporations. Ha ha.

Streaming videos to millions of people isn't exactly something some guy can run on his garage server...If the music industry seriously starts fighting against such video portals, it will be very hard for anybody to keep one such running...

But then, so far it's only Warner...maybe the rest might just use this to get better terms off Youtube...and in time maybe even Warner will be back on the boat. Personally, I think it's a bit of a bluff by Warner. After all, these vids, apart from generating revenue, are also some kind of free promotion. In the end Youtube will probably just offer them 'better' terms.

A bluff. I did think of that. I wonder what are these "better" terms? Probably more advertising priviledges.

Well, a lot of those artists music videos are missing now. I can't find many of the music videos of AC/DC, Avenged Sevenfold, Black Sabbath, Green Day, Led Zeppelin, Linkin Park, Metallica, Nickelback, Panic at the Disco, The Ramones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., They Might Be Giants, and Trapt, and I'm sure they're not the only ones. Warner has destroyed YouTube. :(

So just use Google to search for the videos.

And wait, it gets better. More searching has revealed they aren't just taking down the music videos, they're taking down the album versions of the songs. The live versions can still be found, but music videos made by fans (AMV's, Halo Music Videos, RSMV's, etc.), for at least some of the songs, have had the audio changed or deleted.
