No pointer

I had this problem when i bought the game last year and shelved the game since. I just re-installed Vista on my Dell laptop thats a year old. I installed Civ 4, patched it, then installed BTS. I added the 3.17 patch. I still have no pointer. It's too aggravating to play without it.
Any ideas?

check options in advanced settings main menu think but not sure there might be a option to remove the mouse pointer also do you have a mouse attached to the laptop maybe thats why theres no pointer?
