Hi all. I have been playing Civ 2 on and off for the past 3 years now !! It`s by far the best game ever. The thing is i only recently got the PC version ( i used to play the Playstation 1 version) I installed all ok and started to play and then realised that there was no music ? I have turnt my volume up and still no luck ??
I am using a Packard Bell. 2.5 gig Celron, Windows Xp system with, i think 216 m memory. Is it the game or is it my system. Can i download the music ? It`s so weird and empty feeling playing it without the music. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.

Welcome to CFC.:)

Do you have the soundeffects, you know, cheering crowds when you build something, troops marching when capturing a city or building barracks? You should be able to have those all the time.

The music though is found as tracks on the civ2 cd (try putting it in a cd-player and skip the to the second track), which means you have to have the cd in to hear it. You also need the cd for wonder movies (unless you copy that folder to your computer) and for the high council.

I suggest skipping the wonder movies, the high council give bad advice anyway and putting on some other cd you like while playing the game though.

;) ok i`ve managed to run it seperate from my drive on my media player. I did have sound fx as in movies and crowd cheering and all, but not on background sound as in music to accompany game.
Must be a bug in game. thanx for advice anyway fungus

You manage to get an 'x' into thanks, but not spell my nickname with an 'x' correctly, tsk, tsk...:)

I think you can turn it on and off in the game options dialog, or one of the other dialogs on the first menu.

You need the CD in the drive to play music. ;)

Another thing that affects the music is whether you have a CD-station or a DVD-station. I never got the music to woek correctly when I had a DVD-station. I could listen to the music on the media-player, but it didn't work automatically in the game. But now with a CD-station the music works as it should:)
