Im interested in moving 2W. Cant really cottage this start much otherwise. Plains hill and pig will pump settlers and workers soooo much faster than SIP and work a clam. Also more land fogbusted and more land claimed.
Holy gold mines! I rushed expansion pretty hard and crashed my economy for a moment then rebounded pretty quickly. Rushed great library whilst getting a scientist out of another city to academy it just as it finishes and pump the research. Not holding back on expansion here, I am gonna keep settling stuff. I got my 2 scientists for astro with great library + NE and some parthenon and NE failgold will get us to optics on time
Turn 143
Spoiler:
Got astro bulb at 620AD, not the best but more than fine. Given the fact I already have 11 cities, great library, tons of resources and forges, I am in a fantastic position to win from here. I am thinking of doing something fun like a Navy Seal rush tbh... Will post videos in a couple weeks and let you know how it goes.
Resource situation
Plus sheep, plus fish, I think i am GOOD. especially with CHA and EXP combined. Going to go to flight + navy seals and perhaps get some shopping malls up What a fun iso map. Thank you!
The mass of Gold is honestly not even all that rare, I see it occasionally rolling maps. This time I decided to keep it in part because it wasn't going to get claimed by any AI (well, barbarians maybe, but they don't turn into runaway techers with it), in part because I thought the lack of food around the gold hills would be a reasonable counterbalance - you've got some food to work with, of course, but nothing crazy like a 2x wet corn 5x gold city.
I finally got around to finishing this morning. Immortal, SIP, 1946 Domination. IMO it’s a very good map for the Americans (which means playing the very long game).
SpoilerAttempt 2 :
This time I didnt get as aggressive early settling W, and of course the barbs not only didn’t send a stack of 3 archers at me, they were almost a non factor I did build TGL, if I did it over knowing the map I would DEFINITELY move the capital west to start and probably ignore TGL.
I was pretty slow to optics but don’t think anyone had compass when I met them. There is room for close to 20 cities on the initial continent/island so as long as you can get to the late game it is very doable.
Egypt did get to about 20 turns from culture, but I was basically just watching them and hit their riflemen with infantry/seals/tanks. Seals and fighters are extremely powerful on this type of map, wiped them out, capped Monty, wiped out Gilgamesh and Pericles (Greeks had Mech infantry so had to wear him down a bit with added gunships and jets) and waited for enough borders to pop.
This was somewhat similar to my Hannibal thread, but everyone being almost isolated themselves meant in my game no one became a monster besides me.
If anyone wants to see my SIP city placements to compare with what @Henrik75 did...we are quite different (his is definitely better).
SpoilerSIP cities :
SIP > TGL meant I wanted that island early (at least in my mind!)
Thanks for the map, I think it’s a pretty good one!
