Nobles' Club CXXX: Gilgamesh of Sumeria

Epic 550AD

Spoiler :
Well to be honest I'm not playing optimal I'm sure, but I've expanded to fill up my area. I jumped on a greek and egypt vs. aztec war for the diplomatic bonus. I grabbed one small city on the border which i hope to turn into a new frontline to get some more. I'm about to get the GArtist from music. I'm thinking of culture bombing my new city for some room. What do you think?

Other wise I'm just planning on teching up and fighting Monty. When other wars breakout or I have an advantage I'm looking to score an eventual military victory.

Here I am: 2 200 BC with three cities up; working no water tiles - regretting not going for Mining > Bronze Working before Fishing > Pottery. Although I do have one Cottage at Eridu, and my 2nd and 3rd cities are constructing granaries.

Turn 105/1500 (2460 BC) [12-Sep-2013 13:36:38]
KjotleikCom Eridu is now fledgling, which means it is safe to send a worker to the Wheat tile for farming.
KjotleikCom Best food tile will not change until Wheat-farm is up and running...
KjotleikCom The fourth citizen of Uruk is set to work the forested hills/plains for 1F 2P.
KjotleikCom This means the warrior will come one turn sooner, and I store 10 food towards growth.
KjotleikCom I will decide next turn if to chose between delay in Settler or Bronze Working.
KjotleikCom I will either work a 3P tile for faster settler, or a 2F 2C fresh water lake for faster BW.
KjotleikCom Now, what about Worker II of Uruk?
KjotleikCom As I intend to begin a Settler in Uruk next, will it be better to Mine the hill 2E of Uruk or to connect with Eridu?
KjotleikCom If I continue to work the forested plains for 1F 2P, I will get Settler in 18 turns.
KjotleikCom Working fresh water lake for 2F 2C instead, will delay the Settler to 20 turns.
KjotleikCom Building the mine for 1F 3P takes 12 turns, and will not speed up Settler-production.
KjotleikCom So I make the decision here and now. I will work forested plains for 1F 2P to get Settler ASAP, and connect with Eridu for the commerce (Bronze Working sooner).
KjotleikCom Moving Worker (1) plus building road (6) is seven turns. We'll see if BW is less than (44-7) 37 turns at that time?
KjotleikCom Warrior II of Uruk will take six turns to heal in neutral lands, so I move him back towards my borders.

Turn 106/1500 (2450 BC) [12-Sep-2013 14:10:04]
KjotleikCom Warrior III of Uruk is military police in Uruk. Fortified.
Uruk begins: Settler (18 turns)
KjotleikCom Woops, my head had a crash a little while ago. Working the 2F 2C fresh water lake is one food better than 1F 2P...
KjotleikCom This means Settler will be 19 turns, NOT 20 as I led you to believe...sorry
KjotleikCom But working 1F 2P forested plains still is 18 turns (one turn better), so I don't change my plans because of this error of mine.

KjotleikCom I actually made the mistake of pressing next turn before taking a look at production in Uruk.
KjotleikCom Annoyingly easy to do when using build-queues and not one item at a time...
Uruk begins: Worker (11 turns)
KjotleikCom I insert a Worker (11 T) before the Barracks. He is going to help chopping soon...BW is 19 T away.

Kish founded
Kish begins: Granary (36 turns)
KjotleikCom Kish is founded 3W of Eridu. First build is a Granary.
KjotleikCom The new city is working the Horses (1F 4P 1C), of course.
KjotleikCom Already at this stage of the game, Binary research calculations have changed.
KjotleikCom I would've expected it to take a little longer before it passed break-even research.
KjotleikCom But as R100 = (4) Gold and 29 GNP, while
KjotleikCom R70 = 0 Gold and 26 GNP, and
KjotleikCom R0 = 12 Gold and 25 GNP, we get the calculation that...
KjotleikCom In four turns (3 x R100, 1 x R0) gives Gold 0 and GNP 112, while
KjotleikCom R70 gives Gold 0 and GNP 104.
KjotleikCom In four turns binary research wins by eight (8) GNP!
KjotleikCom What was a loss for binary in the beginning of the game, has turned to an advantage already.
KjotleikCom So, logically I now go for 0 % research one turn, followed by 100 % research three turns.

Turn 128/1500 (2230 BC) [12-Sep-2013 16:59:57]
KjotleikCom Wow, Julius Caesar will trade crab, 2230 BC (T127).
KjotleikCom I traded my Wheat for Crab from Julius.
KjotleikCom Not that I need Crab, as it won't give extra health from Granaries, but I don't need extra health right now either.
KjotleikCom A good relationship with the Romans, on the other hand, can come in handy in the future...possibly.
KjotleikCom I have almost twice the amount of EP's against Ramesses II that I need to see his demographics.
KjotleikCom I won't be able to see his research anytime soon anyways, so I change
KjotleikCom to target Montezuma with 3 EP's / turn now. The fourth point goes towards Frederick as usual.
KjotleikCom I really don't want to not spend anything on my closes neighbour, and possibly war-target (if I don't go all out peace, that is).
KjotleikCom Besides, I can already see Frederick's research. I don't want to lose that advantage.
KjotleikCom The german is 4 turns away from Bronze Working, by the way...

KjotleikCom Ramesses II adopts Slavery. Guess I know what he was researching...
KjotleikCom Frederick will get Bronse Working next turn, and I will have it in [nine + three (Money-making turns; one for each three research) 12 turns]

Any comments on where to go from here? Settle Silver & Gold cities peacefully? Go crush Frederick with a couple of Chariots? Settle inland cities?

I think I will settle the coast up North, but I haven't decided yet...

What I do find curious, though, is that I have only met animals. No barbarians are running around. Strange; and a little frightening. I haven't scouted the fog for a long time. I have no units to use as scouts at the moment. GIVE ME MORE UNITS NOBLE LEADER, THAT THEY MAY...oops, wrong game...(right series, though)!

Yours Sincerely

Kjotleik of Norway :)

Great stuff, Kjotleik. Makes me really root for the success of your empire (and of course the mighty Warrior I of Uruk!).

Noble normal uneventful 1735.

Spoiler :
Just to prove you can get 18th century space race even on Noble:

Went for democracy fairly early and ran emacipation for quite a few turns to speed up multiple cottages. Ended up building AP myself mainly for the free hammers. No-one attacked me though they had plenty of wars with each other. Maybe they were deterred by maces vs tanks. Finished off with SP and caste for improved workshops.
Its mainly a matter of getting a big empire early enough and survive the economic downturn until you start to blow the AI away.

fun map

imm 1460 calvary/cuir conquests/domination

Spoiler :

basically this one was super easy, early chops got out plenty of workers and settlers, threw up enough cottages to keep from stalling, won music, chopped out tgl and ne in capital, and mausoleam in another city, went thru 2 golden ages, 24 turns of sweetness, then got taj for another 12, even blew a GS on 900 beakers worth of PP. Wars all game monty/ramses jc/fredrick toku/perices, and i was just cruising. After i had about 30 or 40 cuirs i ran over egypt in 2-3 turns, a turn or two later ran over germany in a turn or two, then jc, then monty, then pericles then toku. None of them put any kind of resistance, i took 2-3 cities from each one before they capped, even pericles while he had a vassal. new high score, 318k, and also ended up with almost every wonder/shrine in the game, except for toku's as i didnt get any of his cities.

@ blunderwonder

Congrats!

You seem to beat Immortal without breaking a sweat. Spoiler :
After putting 1T into PH mine I sent worker onto silver hill to road it. It'll be just in time for borders to expand so he can mine it. Other worker finished road on farm and went to road the deer. Finished chop 1S of Eridu (again). It was put into settler. New worker from Uruk put another turn into PH mine and next turn jumped onto silver hill to help as well - they can start mining on the turn borders will expand.

Researching Writing on 1T on 100%, 50%, 20%, 10% and back to 20% with working non-optimal tiles to get enough commerce (and to avoid growth till silver is online, without queuing more workers or settlers for that 1T before I can queue Libraries) and finally finished Writing in T71. Meanwhile got Buddhism via river or coast (didn't see missionary) in capitol (T68) and I gifted cows to JC since Toku doesn't want them (T70).

I hope those city screens are visible. T71 got Writing, queued Libraries in 4 cities and OB with everyone except Toku. He doesn't like me enough. Here I lowered research to 0% and was barely in positive (+4 GPT). And I still settled another city on T72. On this turn 1 worker finished mining silver, other went from silver to finish connecting it while worker that put 1T into road went 1E of deer to chop. In T73 those workers went in capitol, 1 to chop 1E of cows, other to finish PH mine. Here I got more religion while Ramesses sent 2 missionaries my way; and I whipped Library in Lagash and started working 2 specs immediately.

I hope city screens are visible, you see I had 60 hammers in Library in capitol here and with PH mine done, 30 hammers production - so it'll be done next turn with exactly 90 hammers. I have 3 vultures and will get 3 more soon. I'll probably need ~3 more to take that barb city, right? That'll be soon enough, that's why I sent worker to chop city site which will connect it. Plan is to get settler there turn or few before I capture it. Out of 2 cities that are still getting Libraries, Kish will work specs as well while Eridu will work cottages. It might even get an Academy. Riverside tiles in Kish, first those overlapping with Nibru (cows/ivory) will get cottages too. I can decide later which city will get them and which will get farms & mines/workshops.

Since Aesthetics would take too long and I don't know when I'll be able to trade it I think I should research Fishing & Hunting before it. They'd both take ~4T (less surely, even on 0% research) and I need them now. Ivory will be in my borders in few turns, I already have 1 city that needs workboat and soon will have 3 or 4 more. Libraries saved me and will further boost my so far non-existing research. Yeah, I think Fishing & Hunting before Aesthetics is the way to go. Right? I've never been in such a bad position research-wise, is that normal on Immortal? It must be I settled cities 3 and 4 too early, actually every spot after that too?

Love the detailed write-up :goodjob:

Just wondering: how are you going to pay for your REX-ing? Sailing for trade-routes? Currency? Or Ziggurats?

@ Fierabras

Thanks :) I'm trying to be informative as I can be; I hope it helps players trying to level up - and I'd encourage them to play & post their games with some info & saves, to try to explain why they do stuff they do to get better feedback. :)
Just wondering: how are you going to pay for your REX-ing? Sailing for trade-routes? Currency? Or Ziggurats?
I guess all of the above will be necessary, as well as some other things. Like:
Spoiler :
We have good food in all cities, including coastal ones still about to be settled (at least 1 fish per city). In this cities specs will do a lot of research I guess, and we have good production in other cities - building research after Alpha and wealth after Currency will be good. I guess some other tricks will have to be used as well.

500 BC

Spoiler :
Started with changing one little thing: in Kish switched from working grassland forest to plain forest to get Library done next turn. Decided to research Hunting, 1T on 10%, the rest on 0% - cause Ur needs more food (deer) and happiness from ivory will come in handy soon. Due to general lack of workers it will be improved later then I'd wish, but I have to refrain from getting more units atm. T76 Kish got Library and started on 2 specs, T77 Eridu got it as well - as Eridu have cottages, it'll work them. I have 4 vultures near Ur and 4 will be done in 2T - that'll have to be enough to take barb city. That and I recalled chariot from scouting and moved 4xp warrior closer, just in case.

On city overview screen you can see turns left to get GS's (row T: 15 - 16 14 - -) On T78 got Hunting and started on Fishing. 3T on 0%. Worker that was closest to Ur roaded pigs and was ready to improve deer immediately while workers furthest south were building cottages on their way to ivory. Granary in Ur was finished with chopping next city site. Now when all vultures are done I have to stop growth in most of cities - so I'll queue 1 settler and 3 workers, while Ur will get Library.

T80 Christianity was founded. Started on Aesthetics, still on 0% research; ~18T. T81 chariot got close enough to barb city to see 4 archers in there - it's going to be close...worker that chopped city site between Ur and barb city continued toward it putting roads to speed up vultures for a turn (1W of PH then 1SW, on grassland forest) and to connect it. Last vulture is coming on silver hill so next turn we'll go outside of our borders. Toku researched Alpha, but doesn't like me enough to trade it - will have to wait for someone else. On T84 Ramesses completed the Oracle - so Christianity was a bulb. He decided to stay small, to wonder whore and spam missionaries, JC converted to Judaism. More and more he looks like a good target, especially if he builds some good WW.

T86 started attacking barbs, luckily they didn't whip more archers: won 1. fight at 30%, then lost at 30% and 43%, won at 43% and 99%, then chariot at 89% for 2 xp, to get 5 xp chariot - future GMedic and took it at 99%. Even though Toku is still the only one with Alpha, I decided to up the slider to 50% and finish Aesthetics in ~5T. I gifted him deer in good hope and traded pig with Freddy for sugar. T87 ivory was finally improved, so now I can start growing cities again. I finished settler & workers first and settled Bad-Tibira on T82 with worker ready to start improving it.

On T89 I gifted fish to Toku as well, since still no one else has Aesth. It's too late to matter for Alpha trade, but improved relation later will matter too. Monty started plotting - his worst enemy is Ramesses. Hmm...I should get my mini-stack toward him to try and take a city or 2 if he attacks him. Especially Memphis with it's To'Solomon. On T90 barb city is pacified and connected. Food first, so I'll improve pig before gold, as I don't yet need extra happiness. T91 finished Aesthetics and got first GS. Sent him to Eridu to build Academy - it's not perfect, but I need more research and it's cottages are getting developed. And he could only bulb Math, and at least 2 AI's already have it. I'm building workboat in Lagash for new city (fish/clam/wheat) for which settler is being built in capitol.

T92 got Academy and whipped Library in Ur. T93 Freddy got GProphet and turn later built Mahabodhi. On T95 I settled Zimbir, with workboat coming and improving the fish in 5 or 6T.

Congrats!

You seem to beat Immortal without breaking a sweat. Could you do one write-up, it doesn't have to be elaborate as mine for example, but I'd like to see your settling choices and some micro (and macro) decisions, especially early game. If you have time or patience, or you can just hit PrintScreen on occasion and put up to 30 screens in 1 post and questions will follow?

How's your record on Deity?

i dont really have the patience for deity :( I do ok but i usually give up before the game comes to a head. In any event this game was unusual for me because i have been playing alot of civ3 lately, i just got conquests so i played a dozen or so games and when you're not playing industrious or you pop a settler from a hut it seems much more important in civ 3. I mean the snowball effect is a bit more pronounced when you see it many different games, it makes it more clear than if i had just redone something different in a different civ4 game. My point is that in civ3, if you're not industrious workers are super important, and so are getting out at least 1 early settler, and I feel like it really changed this game for me.

As a write up of this game i can only write because i only have 1 or 2 saves when i took break, and the autosaves that are probably still there.

Spoiler :

This was the basic strategy - > After scouting, i didnt intend on rushing anyone even with such a great UU because i had plenty of space that i wanted to be sure to settle early, it may have been a good idea with all those trees though. Im nearly certain i went AH->BW, then pottery then writing, i settled on the marble, and i thought about going oracle but as i was getting buddhism tech someone oracled, and its tough to get masonry in a trade. Lots of food and trees made running specialists early a good option. So i spammed cottages and roads with many workers, a gems pop'd in the same region as the silver which was one of my early sites. Basically i had the capital, the city to the east with fish/wheat/clam, the riverside city with cow and rice?, then i put a city by the silver with fish, and another city with the gold/fish later on, and i got a city to the south with 1 ivory in the bfc. after i connected bronze i sent 3 vultures and took and iron/fish city from barbs, and settled another city down by the horses right on germanys border. I feel like settling alot early was important because i knew most of my cities would be the hybrid type and and with creative you can snag alot of land early without having too many settlers. Most of my income was trade routes and a few cottages, but most of the research came from running specalists via cheap librarys and lots of food, the silver mine and gold mine, plus having quite a few water tiles and river citys helped quite a bit. Lots of wars breaking out also helped alot with making me the first to taoism. I got lucky with a calander trade and chopped out MoM late, and i got tgl early, and the NE. I feel like all those chops were very helpful, getting out some early workers and settlers cant be undersold, and there was plenty in another city for any serious wonders, plus a few left in the capital for any there. Very important also was luck with civ changes, i ended up switching to judiasm pretty early to keep germany/egypt happy, and lucky monty didnt crush egypt, and jc didnt crush germany. That said i never needed to switch into hr/or, by the time i was ready to switch i was bulbing taoism with my music gp ga, and from there on it was pacifism/caste for quite some time because of mom, i did switch into civil service around the same time but it wasnt that important, though it did help a bit because of the early academy in the capital and i think 3-4 towns, plus a riverside mine or two i believe. fast foward thought 24 turns of grabbing great people and catching up other cities, and i skipped paper for awhile to get an early nationalism and taj, i bulbed education, but skipped universitys because oxford/beauro wasnt very lucrative. I got a bunch of late forges before i started cranking out HA's switched for GM's at some point and teched HR and drama, threw down cheap theatres, traded for dyes, and sometime during all that i put a monastery in one of the cities to spread judiasm for the theocracy bonus i would switch into later. Everyone else was so far behind at this point, it made rifling a good option, i lib'd mt anyway though to get an early start on cuir's, I spent something like 4000 gold upgrading HA/knights to cuirs, then ran over everyone, i got alot of failgold from parthenon in two cities, and another 600ish from sistine which helped in this regard. Id like to be more specific but once you get past nationalism theres a pretty short window for attack, so i was whipping a bit but not in every city, and since alot of my early cuirs were upgrades, money was important as well. One smaller point is i had ignored/forgotten about the UB, so i didnt even realize i needed it until i had gotten col and realized i didnt have courthouses, that said i usually try to avoid courthouses until i have OR, or a city is serious negative condition. 90hammers for ziggarat though was a good investment, and i ended up putting them in every city, though some of them were a bit late.

the last part of the game went very quickly, nobody had gunpowder, so the first 3-4 civs that capp'd were no problem, egypt was a cakewalk because it didnt have many troops after monty, who also declared on him when i did, and this made it easy to cap him. fredrick/jc also were at war for quite awhile and neither of them had many troops. I had 2 stacks of cuir's one with a scout supermedic, the other stack with a HA medic, and just took one or two cities on the way to the capitals, then they'd cap because having 40 HA's and good war success makes them pretty uneasy, especially when you have a bit more land than they do.

I think MoM/tgl/NE and getting some early GS's and then GM's over 3 ga's is really what won this one. It helps that there was plenty of room to expand as well, and enough happy resources to make heavy growth possible. Having monty/jc in the game also helps so long as their not on your border :p.

next game that goes up i will try to do a better write up :p

That's enough actually - short & sufficient. Just take a breath occasionally, use some dots instead of commas. I'm getting dizzy trying to read your one sentence...like 3 rows long. :crazyeye:

When you take those breaks, yes please post saves or some simple screens with description like that! Noble's Club is here for learning purposes, I'm sure lots of people will find it helpful. I know I would!

NC 130 Kjotleik of Sumer / Monarch - Marathon - NoUnitDiscount

@georgjorge: Thank you for the support. I'll do my best to make it happen.

Any suggestions or hints about what I can do better is most assuredly very welcome. I am having a lot of fun doing this. And while I may "look" good, I'm nowhere near capable to beat this game on Deity... (yet).

Fourth update: 2200 BC to 2000 BC!

It is a short one this time. 2000 BC is 150 turns into the game. That is 10% on Marathon speed.

Spoiler :

For those of you who wonder: No, Cottages, Hamlets and Villages does not grow during Anarchy!

Spoiler :

Sometimes you don't time stuff... but they still happen to be just-in-time anyway...
Spoiler :

As for further expansion by city founding: I have two plans. ONE: The Cut-off Ramesses II Plan. TWO: The Happy Metal Plan. I will choose one of the two based on what my Chariot (arriving by the end of this turn...) reveals of the map. The AI's have settled more cities after last time I scouted the land. So there may be a surprise or two waiting for me in the fog...

KjotleikCom The worker chopping for Uruk was kind enough to stop one turn prior to felling the last tree.
KjotleikCom This means I can continue uninterrupted the Chariot, and cut the trees for the Settler after it is done.
KjotleikCom He is now going to put a few single chopping-turns into the forest 1N of Kish - waiting for Uruk to train the Chariot.
KjotleikCom At Eridu, on the other hand, I couldn't have timed the chop better myself.
KjotleikCom It seems it is safe to split EP's between Frederick and Montezuma without losing sight of Germany's research.
0% Research: 0 per turn
0% Espionage: 4 per turn
100% Gold: 15 per turn, 33 in the bank

After End Turn:
Eridu finishes: Granary

Turn 149/1500 (2020 BC) [15-Sep-2013 14:34:12]
KjotleikCom After chopping the Granary in Eridu, Worker I of Uruk is back to Mining the hills south of the city...
KjotleikCom Due to the fact I am going to transfer Military Unit responsibilities from the Capitol to Eridu, I will work Mines instead of seafood.
KjotleikCom So, a Barracks is next (not a Work Boat).
Eridu begins: Barracks (30 turns)
KjotleikCom Me being a one-track mind excited about my newfound chop/whip abilities, I have forgotten to set research back on. 100% Research set on...now...
100% Research: 19 per turn
0% Espionage: 4 per turn
0% Gold: -4 per turn, 48 in the bank

Turn 150/1500 (2010 BC) [15-Sep-2013 14:45:40]
100% Research: 19 per turn
0% Espionage: 4 per turn
0% Gold: -4 per turn, 44 in the bank

After End Turn:
Uruk grows to size 4

Turn 151/1500 (2000 BC) [15-Sep-2013 14:49:02]
KjotleikCom Cumae / Rome has been founded. Julius' third city.
KjotleikCom And Frederick will get Masonry (11T) before I get Writing.

And this is how my three cities are doing right now:
Spoiler :

I will try to get another update (with nicer close-up pictures in it) during the week. But I suspect I won't find the time to do it until next Saturday. I may be somewhat busy the whole week. Oh, well, we'll just have to wait and see...

Yours Sincerely

Kjotleik of Norway :)

Agree, thumbs up Kjotleik.

I like the look of this start. Easy on the tummy.

Plan: Settle on Marble and start worker. Learn AH and then if we meet a few AI head directly to Alpha. Settle second city very early and if possible do a rush of sort against the nearest AI. So Esp point will be assigned to the second and third Ai met. Goal: Have about 9 cities by 1000 BC. Oh yeah. PHood is very important in this game.

Will be back at the end of some event. :D

I decided to play this game on Emperor level.

Started the game as planned and from there it went on its own coarse.

To Second City:
Spoiler :
As planned the first tech learned was AH. But instead of going for Alpha immediately, I chose to learn pottery since there were a few flood plains to south that a early second city could work along with the horses.

Initial worker action;
First worker built a Pasture on Pigs, cow and a farm on before building a few roads and a mine.

Tech path:
This map was not very conducive to heading toward Alpha directly. So the tech path changed to Pot, Mining, BW, writing, Myst, Medi and PH. Yeah....just the way I did not planned. :scan: :p This Civ begs for early Medi and the map needed BW. Then I decided to start Masonry. I think I need to replay this map after Pot to determine how much better or worse it would have been going straight to Alpha.

Build order:
After the worker, the capital grew to size 4 while building a warrior, part build rax and another warrior. At size 4, instead of a settler, I decided to build the second worker so the road to that city is done. And the intended city 2 site also got changed.

Second city: T46 Well the second city did not get planted close to the capital as planned. I ended founding it on a sugar resource close to Germany with gems in the BFC. At this level and distance the coast is -3 gpt. This is about 10 turns slow for my typical second city. Oh well.

Diplomacy:
Spoiler :
We met some of the AI very quickly in the following order.
Rams, JC, Monty and Fred. A little later we met Peri. All this is before T 36.

First thoughts were that Rams was nearby and we will take him out asap. Another reason to go after Rams is that he can ruin any ones Wonder building party and since PHood is part of the tech plan, slowing Rams is a priority.

But it turned out Fred is closer.

So after building the first settler, the capital started 7 Chariots with Rax promotion. Kish also built a chariot to the party.

German War:
On
T63 (1480 BC), We declared war against Germany and captured the capital defended by 2 archers for a loss of 1 chariot.
T65 (1400 BC), We captured the Gold city: Hamburg for a loss of 2 chariots. Since we needed a few turns for the replacement units to reach the front and the 3 survivors to heal, the single healthy chariot pillaged several farms and mines for gold.
T73 (1080 BC), After failing to capture the city the previous turn, Munich fall for a cost of 3 chariots. It turned out that Fred founded another city. So not gone from the game. But we are ready for peace because.

On the way to 1000 BC
Spoiler :
We were ready for peace because we were in another war by this time.

Since I considered Rams to be a threat to secure the Oracle, I had been looking for worker steal and finally had the chance on T68 (1280 BC). A rowing warrior happen to come across a solo worker and captured it and began to pillage.

We also managed to found another city closer to the capital to work the horses and the flood plains.

At 1000 BC, we have 6 cities and a settler ready to claim city 7 and the capital is building another settler.

The empire at 1000 BC
Spoiler :

Plan: Let the slider drop to 0% due to expansion and recover using scientists and CH's.

Spoiler :
Decided against moving Palace to Eridu. In T97 Pericles built Kash-Vish. Turn later declined Ramesses's request to cancel deals with Monty - I'm almost sure Monty will attack him soon. I'll backstab him and get better relations with Monty for shared war. T99 Conf was founded. T100 Monty did attack him. I scouted Ramesses and parked chariot between his ivory and marble - 3 workers are building forts there. I whipped some vultures, granaries & libraries and OF into more vultures.

T102 Monty took Elephantine and I upped slider to 100% and finish Alpha next turn - got bored of waiting for someone other than Toku to get it. It seems Freddy got it on that same turn. Traded Aesth for IW+Sailing with Ramesses and Aesth for Math with Monty. Started on Currency, still binary like most of the game so far.

T104 I denied Ramesses's request to join in war against Monty and DoW'd him instead. Traded Alpha+Aesth for Calender+Myst+Arch with Pericles (and fish for dye). Captured 3 workers with chariot and went for Thebes with my stack and captured it in T107. Upped slider to 100% again to finish Currency in 2T, while still chopping & whipping vultures.

T109 got Currency and traded Alpha for Poly+100 with Monty, when Toku DoW'd Pericles. Got 2nd GS and bulbed Compass with him - I need some techs for trades. Researching Drama, 1T on 0% and 2T on 100%, while selling Aesth to Toku for 50 and trading Calender for PHood+10 with Monty. I would accept peace with Ramesses if he wanted to give me MC, but he didn't - so I continued toward Memphis. JC DoW'd me, but I still didn't see one of his units - that messed up few trades though. I think that was a bribe, but I'm not sure.

T111 traded Compass for Monarchy+70 with Pericles. T112 got Drama and started on Lit, binary. Sold Poly to Toku for 40 and traded Currency for Med+365 with Pericles - he was researching it. Freddy bulbed Philo. Went 100% on Lit and made dot-map to fill territory between me and Ramesses. Southernmost city (shared banana) would have to be 1st to block Freddy.

T113 Ramesses got GProphet, but I took Memphis that turn and killed him. Maybe I could've waited, maybe he'd settle him? I hope he'll settle GG he got just now. T115 got Lit. 2 Monty's stacks were nearby, so I'm hurrying to Ramesses's last city. Researched Masonry in 1T, cause I couldn't get it in trade while killing few yellow units running around.

Now is 1 AD and I just traded Compass for Constr with Freddy. I think I'll start on TGLib (and later NE) in Bactrian (old barb city) and go for Music to start GAge and switch to OR & HR or something. Suggestions are welcome though. I'm also undecided on MoM or HE in capitol. Only better (or is it) city for HE is Bad-Tibira. Help?

Cause of it's a lot harder on Immortal then on Emperor:
Spoiler :
My rush window closed quite early:
Spoiler Image :
Before I even started researching Writing. I couldn't afford more units, cause maintenance on Immortal is hard to handle. For me at least...unfortunately I deleted autosaves to show you, I was barely earning +4 :gold: at 0% :science: slider couple of times with only garrisons.
