Nonsensical AI's behavior is spoiling the game

All the new ideas and mechanics are very interesting but what is the point if AI's don't make use of them ?
Deity / Trajan : build legions and siege towers and take any city you want, no need to bother with anything
else in the game : techs, social policy, happiness, money, diplomacy, culture, religion : all these don't matter.
AI's never do anything that make any sense, just send stupid messages, where is the challenge ?
A great strategy game for patzers, as it is.
All the professional reviewers ranked it from very good to great, game of the year ?! These people are not serious or not honest, they should keep reviewing shooters or RPG's and keep away from strategy games.

 

No offense, but don't assume anyone can review a game based on pre-release builds, especially incomplete builds that only allow part of the game to be played. Even for the reviewers that played a single entire playthrough this is a strategy game, the flaws and bugs only become apparently after subsequent playthroughs. All the reviews I saw were after a single playthrough or incomplete pre-release builds.

A serious reviewer can't accurately judge a 4x game in a single playthrough especially while also trying to learn it, that you'd expect them to is silly. It is also why I don't give two cents for pre-launch game reviews, they're just articles on first impressions and nothing more.

 

A critic is paid to give an accurate judgment about something, if it is not possible, she/he should abstain and not say : "very good " or " great " when it is not true because she/he cannot know.

The game must be good on multiplayers though, with humans and no AI's, unfortunately, who can play like that ?

I dont think most people would agree with you that a good AI would consist of Trajan auto-DOW everyone and only building legions and siege towers and not bothering with anything else, no farms, no districts. Haha
