North American Union Capital?

Somewhere along the north side of the St. Lawrence Seaway, and thoroughly inside Quebec. There's no other way the Francophone population would accept it. Plus, it would have the benefit of being absolutely frigid in the winter. You don't get to have unlimited access to Canadian resources without having the capital be frozen solid half the year.

In 2009 we had 15.4 million visitors who spent $7.8 billion. That was considered a down year. SF is indisputably a top tourist destination worldwide.

More than Paris, London, and Cedar Rapids? Combined?

I would think not... those numbers are from the SF Examiner.

We're not London and we're not Paris but we're pretty friggin awesome. Although San Jose is trying to plunder all our sports teams.

Ain't nafink wrong with that though :mischief:

But seriously, SF would be cool. Aside from LA, it's the most identifiable city on the west coast, and probably the most popular tourist destination for Europeans on the west coast.

Plus it's just a flat out beautiful city ;)

I know- it should be a touring capital, like Ozzfest, only boring, corrupt, and with even more illicit back-stage fornication.

Why don't we build a new capital, right where Quebec, Ontario, and the U.S. meet.

That way nobody can complain.

Just another boring Eastern city that is too far away for us Californians to care about. So basically yeah, go for it :3.

The Bush family is a bunch of... socialists...
We have got to start monitoring the use of this word. It's getting worse than "fascist"- at least that one has a "recognised wrong usage", if you will, but this one still has enough meaning around it to render the sort of usage seen above baffling and topic-derailing.

Wasilla, Alaska. Duh.

the rest of North America would never accept one in the US.
Half the Canadians in this thread have suggested locations inside the United States

Why don't you just build 10-15 Supercarriers and strap them together and make that your capital. Then no one can complain and it can move around. It might also be handy in large military operations.

Yeah, as a nice big diversionary target for the enemy to bomb the hell out of.
