FA: Dip in 6. Grow in 26.
Ros: Sett in 14. Grow in 4 (or 2 is Fruit City founded). Hire Elvis every other turn to halt growth.
Udal: Settler in 3. Grow in 17. Temple next previously decided upon.
Upps: Legion in 9. Grow in 9.

Recommend moving FA serf from grassland to roaded grassland.

Every city should have a defensive unit in it to avoid the catastrophe of OP:( . This should be the first build of new cities, or rehomed from elsewhere to save time (not a good idea during exploration stages).

A defensive unit won't do the trick I'm afraid...

    The situation is this:
We're playing at deity level so all barbarians are veterans when they attack but when they defend they are normal units (this is what I understood from previous posts).

So to cope with any barbarian threats it is good to have a unit which has good defensive strength but it should also have attacking capabilities.

In other words I think every city should have a legion, a strictly defensive unit (phalanx) is a lot cheaper to build but doesn't give us what we need.

To continue on safety: I also think we should have at several points of our empire a brigade consisting of a crusader and a diplo to attack and bribe any threat, whether the threat comes from AI or barbarians doesn't matter but we need to be prepared for future agression!

In this case , shall we read 'defensive unit' as a unit able to defend an enemy taking a city by attacking that enemy unit first e.g. legion?

I will study this and vote later. For now:
The defensive plans above sound good, but I don't believe they apply to our many interior cities: LN, F4, GG, Mord, Neuma, MT, FA. A guard Dip in the Hills wil suffice for MT and FA. Bedfont Lakes has been fine without a guard for a millennium.

We will not need a Temple in Udal for many weeks.

    I voted to:
Do whatever it takes to disband Roskilde before it grows again
    Udal: Build settler instead
Upps: Carry on building Legion (or Crusader!?)
FC: Build dip first, we'll have guards and a rehomed Settler
Routskilde: Build unit first, a Caravan I guess

Don't build on single tile Buffalo Island yet, Hill Mine City (W W W NW of FA, also NE of Fish) and Plains Filler (W of Dellham Hill) come first.

Hladir is City#4, Viborg is City#6. We have a Diplomat here.

I see we may change Upps to Diplomat. Then shall we sell this expensive barracks? Uppsala could also build a rare Silver Caravan, rehome in Dellham, and deliver to RC Demand.   It seems preferable to keep the Barracks, build the current Legion or even a Crusader, and ferry up a Dip with a Settler to found V2, Pure Green with Whale and Peat.

I don't see why Fruit City needs to build defense -- it already has a Phx and Archer, Routskilde has a Legion and Chariot, Udal an Archer and Legion. A Diplomat, that would be powerful defense.

I'd be glad for Jayne, or someone else, to be Chryshe Governor. I see someone else plans to volunteer. Since Jayne is so prompt, please post now in Turn 500AD that you will be Governor of Chryshe next turn, early Sunday.
