Not a bug, but an AI logic problem: AI treats ranged unit logistically as melee

I have seen a few of these things, but this one was the worse to date. I got into a tussle with the biggest dog in terms of land, cities and troops and tech. I was not far back though.

I was doing some damage and took down two cities, but Darius introduced a pair of artillery and things got shaky. I had come up with a plan of attack, when Darius handed me the kingdom?

I had captured the capitol and he was bringing on the pain. Then next turn I see the two artillery had move next to the capture capitol??? One next to one of my infantry units.

Boom my problems were solved, what is the point of having range on your enemy, if you are going to roll up the long range guns to a melee unit?

I had accepted things like my frigate killing barbs and emptying a camp, only to see the AI plant a town and not even walk into the empty camp? He had a troop that turned around and left the area.

So I hope these are part of the AI improvement they are hinting at.
