Ok,

I apologise if am missing something, but I have been playing the game for six hours and have noticed the following possible bugs:

1. Espionage - I am still getting to grips with this. But, is the espionage slider supposed to be visible and usable from the beginning? Every time I start I can use the slider, and this does not accord to the wording in the game manual. I thought you should only get this with the Writing tech?

2. Random Events - there have been a couple of times when I have been presented with several options due to a random event, however, I have not been able to select all the options.

The first of these inolved a tornado hitting my capital. I was asked to make the choice whether it should kill citizens, or destroy buildings. It was a size 7 city, but I could not choose the "kill citizens" option and so it destroyed a temple.

The second involved completing 12 chariots before the classical era. I was told that if I had a state religion there would be a bonus. I completed the task and acquired Islam before finishing it. I was then given the choice of improving all the chariots through promotion, or having a "drive of faith" which I presumed would increase the spread of my religion. Again, I could not select the second option. There have been other occaisions like this, and I was just wondering whether I was missing something, or if there was some problem with the events.

Any help would be gratefully received. I did a quick search, but no-one else appears to have reported this (apologies if I have missed a thread).

Cheers

The slider becomes visible, becuase the palace provides +4EP / turn. When you meet the first civ, you get the slider and access to the espionage screen so that you can actually start building espionage defence against other civs. This allows you to work one tech path, and have defence against another civ who rushes to espionage.

It may be that the reason you can't choose the other options is because you lack the necessary cash to pay for the other options, although in your specific cases, I'm not 100% sure - there may be other factors. If you can provide a save for one of these events, then that would confirm it one way or the other.

Ok - thanks for the help on the first query.

But I am nots sure you have addressed the second question correctly. Why should it cost me money to elect for the disaster to harm the people rather than the buildings?

I can't provide a save at the mo, but will look into this.

Another part of the same problem, occurred when I was asked to help out fellow Islamists (another random event). I had two lots of horses, and neither were being traded. I was asked to help out a fellow Isamist and was given a series of options. One of which was to supply them with horses (but for some reason I could not). The only explanation I can think of, is that they were too far away (ie - no trade route).

Yes - I probably wasn't clear enough in my response. I think that the options are not allowed for a number of reasons (eg. for the people, it may be that teh city isn't big enough), and a save would help identify that. Do you get mouse-over text if you hold the mouse over the unavailable option?
