I can't stand Steam, and I wouldn't use it for anything else...I guess this means I can't get the SDK (especially WorldBuilder)? If anyone can provide a link to an alternative download, I would be eternally grateful. :D

I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to do that here.

But just to let you know, there is a non-Steam download floating around out there on the Internet (at least there was as of yesterday). You gotta thoroughly search for it, though.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Steam, you need to get over it or not make mods. Or don't play the game entirely.

Ugh. What kind of a reply is that? It's a matter of preference. That has nothing to do with providing a reasonable, subjective answer as supercheese did.

There's nothing wrong with walking to your local grocery store, but everyone still drives there anyway. Or, for a better example, there's absolutely nothing wrong with Tivo. But how much market penetration does it have?

And I do think there's something wrong with Steam. It crashes. It's too controlling. It takes up unnecessary hard drive space. The interface is sub-par. And I wouldn't use it for anything else.

For the tools...we are already cursed with steam, so having them on steam is just the most logical decission. There's no other way, because there is no other way needed.

Err, actually, there are other ways, but I suppose that's neither here nor there...
