[Civ2] Not seen this happen before. Cities right next to each other

What the hell lol. Maybe because of fog of war this happened? Not sure who built what city first.

What surprised you? In the original Civ2, such a situation is quite acceptable. By default, cities can be built at a minimum distance of 1 tile. Your screenshot shows exactly this situation. Although built-in AI algorithms usually do not allow such close proximity of cities. Probably, one of these cities was built by you.

In the modified version of Civ2 from the designer duplj, you can set the minimum distance between cities (from 1 to 4 tiles) in the file RULES. See point #36: https://forums.civfanatics.com/thre...ditions-with-support-for-music-tracks.688546/
 
Yeah, there's a reason why Civ2 was notorious for the Infinite City Sleaze (ICS) being the optimal strategy. It's great to hear that the fan patch for MGE makes that configurable

I think there might actually have been a bug at some point allowing fully adjacent cities at the international date line (the 0 coordinate wrap around), but don't quote me on that
