but ye might be able to help me. I like playing the Europe map as a custom scenario, and using worldbuilder I put all the appropriate Civs in the appropriate starting places and go from there. but theres massive gaps in Eastern Europe, nothing between Stalin and Bismarck, is there a way I can put in existing leaders and rename them/their countries?

and yes, Poland would be one (also hopefully Hungary, Yugoslavia and Ukraine)

Let me help:
1. Choose the civs you want to change in a custom scenario, make sure YOUR playing as them.
2. Click the little box on the left, change the name of their (your) empire, adjective, etc.
3. Launch the game, then go into worldbuilder, save it.
4. Do the same process for other civs you want to change, the WBS should be in the "Play/Custom Scenario" maps.
