Well, I'm bored and am feeling quite random today. Which led to this

Which produced

Solid leader, all around. Good all around traits, good UU, mediocre UB and bad starting techs. I can handle that.

And ths start

Suggestions? I don't like settling on Flood Plains, but that may be a wise choice now (to gain the Corn, the Pig and the batch of Flood Plains.

Well the starting techs are actually not THAT bad...since myst and wheel you would need anyway (monus and 1 tech on path to pottery).

I like to SIP and this time I dont see reason why to move yet... to the east it seems like coast...

techs agri->ah->min->bw probably, then cottages since FPs riverside are good for cottaging

edit:

where is the save? hm...

must.........post.........save

I'm inclined to move the warrior 1 SE to reveal some coast - might help with decision if seafood is revealed. Settling 1S seems like a viable option. Looks like more FPs 2S and well a bunch of FPs to the W. Could be a sweet start, especially being a tech away from POT. Might consider POT before BW depending on what is revealed.

Yep, Myst is pure suck.

Hippodrome is not really a bad UB.

I think there is only sea coast to east. I would move warrior 1NW or 1s to see if moving settler off fp lose/gain you any resource by settling 1s. For me settling on a flood plains is a big no. The alternative seems to be settling on plains hill. I think the fog maybe hiding 2-3 more flood plains.

You could settle on plains hill and use corn/pigs for another city. Remember this leader has a settler production bonus.

Health could an issue if too much FP in BFC.

Move warrior first. :)

@gumbolt

moving to the PH is big risk though...what if the west region is completely abysmal? And there is no way we can know...
and you risk no hills in BFC, SIP gets you 2 PH, 1 GH and pigs on hill

hmm i am not sure...settling on FP generates much more unhealthy then usual? or it's just you waste good tile for cottage? I am not sure why the hate against settling on FP.

I would of used capital as a commerce capital abusing the financial trait. I am sure there will be other hills. If you move settler 1SW then you have option of returning to 1s or settling plains hills. My plan is good and my settler movement plan will ensure we make no mistakes. ;)

Is that a second plains hill below the first one? ;)

Added a save for you in the first post. Won't let me add a WB save for some reason (so you can play Deity/Marathon instead of Emperor/Normal for all you like).

Anyway, here's the first round.

Moving the warrior showed this

Which inclined to settle 1S of the original starting position. It'll be solid for early production with 2 hills and a Pig hill, but it'll be a monster Bureacracy site once these cottages mature. For you health advocates, I'm not concerned - we have 2 health sources already (one doubled by Granary, too) and definitely more on the way. Tech order was set to Agriculture/Pottery/Animal Husbandry. I'd be growing fast enough with the Corn and the +1F from the FPs alone, so cottaging the FPs as soon as possible seemed viable.

This guy showed up

If he gets a decent chunk of land he tends to be a good trading partner, especially if you share a religion. Later on his culture attemps are threatening, though. We'll see.

This guy followed

I hate having him in games. He's a good trading partner on Monarch or so, but later on he can just run away with tech, making him both a Space threat and hard to invade. He's not much a warmonger though, so if we're close I'll probably eliminate him.

I got a very nice surprise from a goody hut

I located some Horse resources not too far away from the capital. Things are looking nicely so far.

And no party would be complete without this mustach

If he gets an a chunk of land to himself, he'll probably trample Louis or Mansa over. Or me.

Anyway, that's where I stopped. I'm debating a 2nd city site here:

If there's a food resource there, I'd love to get the Gold and some cottages down there. It (along with the FPs in the capital) would make a beautiful foundation to REX over.

Here's the known world

I'm also looking for a tech path for the next round. Here's the tree:

It'll probably be Mining (and possibly BW, though I don't want to chop a lot of health) for some production, but then what?

Criticism advised.

In place looks like the best choice here. Messing up an FP tile isn't so bad when the alternative is letting other FP tiles fall outside of your BFC.

Yes, there will be health issues, but they won't kill you. Keep in mind the tile still has a river. Settling in a different place in a lot of cases means giving up the fresh water bonus.

1 south is another interesting option, but might have you end up with too few hills to properly engage in axerush should the situation call for it. Also 1 empire wide lost turn is not worth a lousy floodplain tile.

In my shadow I clicked to 35T.

I SIPed and got sheep+pigs+corn in BFC.
I am baffled with dotmap...I think I will settle the south gold site next...

is it ok to post in spoilers screenshot for discussion or you want to hold the discussion only for your progress Framesticker?

I'd like it better if you put stuff I shouldn't see (for my game, the main game, at least) in spoilers, or at least say in the beggining "SPOLIERLS!" or something like that.

ok..I think I didnt spoiler you in the post (since everything i wrote there you see already).

It's interesting map have to say... dunno what I will be able to do out of it.

trying not to look at all your pics. Why did you move the warrior 1S. You only revealed tiles that were obvious anyway. That's why I suggest moving 1SW since coast was obvious and you could see if you might waste a decent later coastal city.

pics in spoilers are a nice thing

I played to 560AD and am not sure if i did at least something right... would like some input from all of you...

Spoiler :

I have problem with prod city (none yet...) and gp farm (except from cap non yet and I just dont see another one).

Techrate is abysmal :-(. Built cottages all round... ah...i just dont know i am not good enough :-(.

Diplo is nightmare... everyone hates everyone else (well that's good! I am competitive in techs thanks to it)

It was accidently. Had this been an offline game, I'd reload - but I don't do that on online games.
