NOTW LII - The Immortals II [SIGN-UP Thread]

Prologue

~~~
It is not every day that you get made a King. The new Vampire King stood in the midst of the ruins created by the first battle. He looked deliriously happy and clapped his hands across the back of Governor of Durnovaria. “Well done, well done indeed.” The Governor of Durnovaria had a more restrained look. “Thank you Sire. And congratulations on your first, of what will be many, victories.” The King looked even more pleased. He smiled at the Governor and turned to find the Amurite Wizard being escorted to him by a couple of guards. “Well I suppose I should hold up my end of the bargain, eh wizard? Though I don’t know if they will let you back in now!” The Wizards reply was cool with no visible emotion. “Amurites respect magical power. As long as you DO fulfil our bargain and grant me the Mana orbs, then I will have no trouble being welcomed back.” The Vampire King signalled to another guard who brought forth a bag and without a word the Wizard seized the bag and start walking off towards the Amurite nation. The Vampire King called after him with an evil grin. “Are you sure you don’t want to stay for dinner?” The Wizard paused and looked back “No thank you! I’m positive I wouldn't enjoy it.”
The Wizard set off for the Amurite Capital in haste. He was keen to put as much distance between him and the Vampire army as possible. As much as fear drove him onwards, his thoughts about what he learned while being guest then prisoner in the Calabim lands excited him. That knowledge coupled with the Mana orbs that now rattled around in the bag he carried propelled him forward as much as his fear. ‘His secret, will be mine’, he thought to himself. The sun started to set as the Wizard struggled his way through a lightly forested area, while the trees were sparse, the dim light and undergrowth kept causing him to stumble. After tripping over for the fifth time the Wizard cursed. He paused to wipe his brow and mutter a few more profanities when he noticed a light in the distance. The light belonged for a farm homestead, a perfect place for temporary refuge. The farmer couldn’t have been more welcoming. When the Wizard explained his escape from Calabim lands and warned of the approaching army, the owner gave him logging and invited him to join his family for a meal. He did a few magical tricks to entertain the family and made his excuses to retire early. Despite the eager looks from of one of the daughters, he had another temptation playing on his mind.
~~~

The Governor of Durnovaria looked uneasy. He had be debated whether to speak his mind but although he had known the King for quite a while, a crown can change people and a word out of place, even in the best of intentions could be fatal. Unbeknownst to him, the King was studying the Governors look of internal dilemma. “Dearest Governor, I know what you’re thinking!” The Governor jumped at these words and a look of horror appeared on his face. The King laughed at this “Relax, It was the right decision, I assure you, that one will cause more trouble than good. And the more trouble he causes the better for us.” The Governor did not look convinced. “Sire, with all due respect, we handed magical weapons to a Wizard with loyalty to our enemy, I cannot agree with your assessment, he will aid their war effort not hinder it.” The King smiled in a twisted way. “I gave him power, that I did. But as you also fear, though you hide it well… power corrupts! I can’t pretend that my tastes have not changed with this crown, perhaps you noticed it yourself?" The Vampire King did not press the point. "Your vision is as clear as mine. You saw this man, you saw under his cool and calm exterior there existed a craving. We recognise this craving because we have our own, our hunger for blood.” At that the Governor could help but think about flowing blood, his mouth salivated at the thought. The Vampire King smiled at the look for he knew it well. “But our craving is our weakness...” He paused in reflection. “The Donovan saw to that when they poisoned our livestock with that terrible sickness. But let me reassure you, the Wizard's craving will be his weakness! His craving is for power and this craving will cause more harm than good.”

The Farmers daughter's couldn't sleep, the handsome wizard occupied her thoughts. A daring that she hadn't thought possible swelled up inside her, she swept the blankets of her bed and tip-toed across to the door of her bedroom. The Wizard was in his room, thought night had retired to bed early he was still up and the mana orbs gifted to him by the Vampire King lay out surrounding him. He was deep in thought but a creaking of floorboards outside his room disturbed him, he looked up just as his bedroom door opened slightly and a timid looking girl slipped into the room. She surveyed the Wizard, too shy to talk she looked the coloured orbs lying on the ground. The wizard reached for the nearest one and held it up for the girl’s inspection. The orb was green but the more she looked at it the more she was unable to determine the shade, it seem to shift in colour as her eyes moved. She broke the silence "What is it?" she asked. The Wizards reply was a smooth as ice. "It’s a mana orb, one of the great feats of the Vampire King, sorry former Vampire King, to be precise." The Girl looked at him blankly, she didn't understand but the sound of the Wizards voice made her shiver in a pleasant way. The Wizard saw her blank look and explained further. "Mana is what we use to create our magic. Normally the raw mana is found in veins in the ground which harness the energies that flow through the earth, we call these nodes and while providing tremendous power, they can generally only be one type of magic. The Vampire King was able to remove small pieces of mana from the nodes while retaining the magical energy they possess. The result is these orbs, which allows magic users to use many different forms of magic." The Wizard looked closely at the Orb he was holding. "More forms of magic than the Vampire King intended I think... Here would you like to hold it?" The Farmers Daughter reached towards the orb.
When the Farmer knocked on door to wake the Wizard for breakfast, the Wizard was already long gone. After they was no reply to the Farmers knocks he opened the door to find his daughter lying dead on the floor.

Four days later the Wizard arrived at the Amurite Capital, a bustling city full of towers and places of learning. Here magical knowledge was jealously protected and eagerly consumed. However, for the moment the City was in a great state of panic, confusion and internal squabbling as the Wizards arrival coincided with the news that that the Head of the Mage council had fallen in battle against the Vampire King. The news caused the Wizard to smile, an internal power struggle would only open opportunities for him. As a well-respected Wizard, he already had connection with most of the cities elite and was buoyed once more to discover the council would be sitting soon to discuss the war and elect a new member to fill a vacant spot.

The Mage Council began, as only a meeting could when there is no head, with a great deal of arguing. The Council had to determine who would lead them so when the Wizard arrived at the council hall some few hours after the meeting had started the loud arguments still continued to echo out of the hall. The Wizard uncharacteristically smiled once again. He placed his hands on the grand door that led into the council hall and in a display of magical strength blew the doors open to create his dramatic entrance.

Game Information & Rules

Objective:
The object of Night of the Werewolves is similar to Mafia. In this case, there are a group of people within the town who are secretly werewolves. At night, the Werewolves (or similar bad group) will kill a member of the town. If you are innocent, it is your job to accuse/vote for a player, during the day phase, who you think is guilty of being a Werewolf (or similar bad groups). The player that has the most accusations at the end of the day phase is lynched by the rest of the town.

In this particular game, it is the objective of the bad guys to have their combined team ‘strength’ to exceed the combined ‘strength’ of the remaining players. And it is the object of the innocents is to lynch all the werewolves (or similar bad groups). How Strength is determined is explained further below.

Please note that a number of terms maybe different from your normal mafia game. It is my intention to preserve the integrity of what made a NOTW special to me. See the NOTW information thread for more details

Time Cycle:
The game will alternate between 48 hour days and 24 hour nights. During the daytime, accusations votes may be made, and public messages may be posted. During the night, player abilities may be used in secret by PM'ing the GM. You will not be allowed to send Private Messages to other players

There might be extensions of time depends on whether I have time to do write ups and what not.

Private communication:
There is limited private communication is this game. All discussions are expected to be in the game thread. There are ways to communicate privately but only when certain conditions are met. This communication will be through QT that are provided by the GM. You are not allowed to share any WT links provided by me. If you have access to more than one QT, feel free to cut and paste info out of one and into the other but do not share the link.

Voting:
There will be no voting, just accusations. At the end of the day cycle, a player will be killed/lynched. You will not be required to accuse in a certain format, just bolding () will be sufficient. I would prefer if you do not use the words ‘vote: player X’ as it is out of character. Please see the Role-playing rule. To remove an accusation from a player, please use the bold () and strikeout ([s][/s]) tags

Examples:
- “I know that the Sita is a Werewolf“
- ”Actually I was wrong about Sita. It is actually Sprig who is the werewolf”

There will also be voting for Items (which will be explained further down) that are usually left behind after a person is lynch or killed. Voting for these items will be in a similar manner as an accusation above. The only difference is that items will be associated with a colour. The GM will define the colour.

Example:
- “I think the Mana Orb should go to Sprig, he is omnipotent after all. “

Items & Stength:
This game will contain items, all characters will have at least 1 items. Most items enable spells. This means that they may enable an ability for any character that possess that item. More details on items can be found character stats below

Items can be' passed' or ‘show to another player. Items that are passed to another player will leave your possession and you will not longer be able to use any ability associated with that item. Items that are shown to another player are kept in your possession and the details of that item and the abilities it unlocks will be revealed to the player to whom the item is shown.

Both these actions are done in the Game thread. It will be difficult to keep hidden the items you carry in this game.

As indicated earlier, the objective is for the bad guys is to have a cumulative strength higher than cumulative total of the innocent. Strength in this game is marked by the number of items you carry.

E.g.
1 Mana Orb = 1 strength.
2 Man Orbs = 2 Strength.

I will make a warning here. What may appear to be a clear strategy to thwart the bad guys ability to win may actually hinder you chances of winning.

I will also make clear there is no theft ability in the game. Players will not be able to steal items from you, should you have publicly made it known what you hold. however, on the flip side there are abilities that can affect items directly.

Ability/Spells:
Items activate Spells. Spells come in 3 tiers which will have certain requirements to be met before you can use the higher tier spells.
You will be only able to perform 1 spell per night. In order to use a Spell, you should pm the GM with your spell and who the target of that spell is.

Role-playing:
This is not a holdfast rule but please try to stay in-Character, and do not just make a post that just contains an accusation. It is not hard to add a little flavour. Each of you will have a role and will receive a role PM with a brief background story. Please use this (and embellish if you want) to help add a little flavour to your posts.

You will also be given a bunch Character sprites which you can use to add flavour to your posts. I encourage you to make use of these sprites in each of your posts. If you want to modify the sprites to add even more flavour please be my guest. I can supply you with additional material.

Lynch:
This game will feature a normal Lynch. A player will be lynched if at the end of the day phase they receive a plurality of the votes (The highest amount of accusations)

The only exception is on the first day which will require a Majority.

Dead-Dead and mostly dead:
While there is permanent death for which you will not be able to participate further in the game, it is most likely that you will be able once certain conditions have been met have a way to influence the living. Details of how this will work will be given to you at the time conditions are met. Private communication will be only permissible through QT links provided.
