PitBoss Game
Trying to keep people within a timezone or two, or available to play during the same time, so that we can get some large chunks of game played.
  • Game: Civ IV BTS Patch #313
  • Difficulty Level: Noble
  • Map: Fractal
  • Size: Standard
  • Climate: Temperate
  • Sealevel: Medium
  • Era: Ancient
  • Speed: Normal

  • City Elimination Limit: 0

  • Special Rules (up for discussion, just ideas)
    • 22 hours per turn
    • Advance Start/600 pts
    • Plagerized rules: http://theoob.googlepages.com/pitbossrules.html (except for the no war until 3500 - should not be an issue with adv. start)
    • Simultaneous turns (should expedite the game a little)

  2. -6 Mikeyia - Hammurabi
  3. -6 Levgre - Ghandi

  6. +2 Burliconni - Qin Shi Huang
  7. +2 Oyzar- Hatshepsut

Proposed Amendments to starting rules (aka 'things I forgot'): Please either post or email your opinions (with a clear 'yea' or 'nay').
Open Trade Agreements: There is a rule in the above referenced PitBoss rules that disallows 'non-scouting' open border pacts. I don't know the history about this, but it seems like a perfectly acceptable arrangement; however, if one side does decide to scout, then you will obvioulsy have to break the agreement via the game to stop them. Is there something I am missing about these 'open trade' agreements? Is there any reason we should not allow these?
  • Yea to allow OTAs.
  • Nay to restrict limited open borders (current rule).

Without Knowledge rule: If you are the receipient of some action or event that the other players would not know (i.e. you, as player X, saw player Y pop a scout out of a goody hut), you should not discuss this (either in private or in public) event with any other player unless you have made game contact. More seriously, do not announce anything about other player's defenses or positions, unless you have direct contact in the game with the player. If you have contact with another player, behind the scenes negotiations are allowed and any transfer of information you wish. Of course, you can always post whatever you want about yourself, true or not :).
  • Yea to implement WK rule communication limits.
  • Nay to allow all communications (current rule)

I'm flexible on map type, would like to see a little navy action though. But not one per Islands. Maybe think about an accelarated start? Get together for a couple of hours to advance faster?

Current Status---------------------------

I started up a test game. I set it up:
Human
Human
Computer
Computer

All 4 appear available, but if you take one of the computer spots, I don't think that the game will start because it will be waiting for another human.

I'm Rocky mountain time zone.
I would like to play Suleiman.

We are just testing out at the moment, as I have not run a PitBoss before. We may get started tonight on a real game, but we may not. Hang around a bit. I would like to get 4 or 5, though.

I would like to play also. Size depends of number of players, barbarians can be on, but also of. Map terra or fractal, also depends of players... Huts on, but no need for scenarios... Normal game is good ,also with normal speed...
Consider random civ, or non-financial leaders, it can be fun ;)

With Random Civ, the PB generates the leader before we join and you can see them, so we would have to agree to take the leaders in the order we are signed up to play.

Btw, IIRC, you are +1, or 7 hours ahead of Mikeyia and me. Is it like 3 or 4 in the morning where you are? I am not sure if daylight savings time applies where you are :).

yes, It's about 3 in the morning now :)
And just quick note about random leaders- we can do some random before game and then just set the game as we need...

You forget to say to check my mailbox.
I forget to check my mailbox.
I stuck with "reading between lines" to get server name

edit: I see two members- kewin and you...

What is the network and password???

What exactly you did?
At the end, you can always ask some experienced pitboss players, I'm sure that they will help...
And, when we start one Hamachi game, just log in and in civ iv... But, at the end, we have problems and do it without Hamachi. As far as I can recal, problem was when two or more players tried to log in civ at the same time. Then we just jump in one by one and it was OK...
Also, accelerated start can be pretty awesome...
