As long as we are paying for it, let's just give a free one to Germany as well.

Ukraine should just be accepted into NATO.

I think Russia's little maneuvers in Georgia as of late is designed to...you know...prevent any further NATO assimilation of former CIS states.

Curious thing to wonder what Russia's response would be if it were to happen though. Probably not very good.

Just think: 50 years of a Cold War without a shot fired and then the whole world blows up in a mess like this. Truly ironic thinking.

I don't think the Ukraine is politically stable enough. What happens when the missiles are installed and a pro-Russian government is elected?

The only way that is going to happen is if Moscow rigs the election and nobody challenges it when it becomes apparent that it has happened. The last election is of particular relevance to this issue.

Or the pro-western government gets exposed on corruption, or just fails at making the country better.

I know the Western media only gives time to those Ukrainians that hate Russia, but there are still tons of Ukrainians, a slight majority even, who are pro-Russia. It's completely conceivable that the next President will be pro-Russian, when you consider how horrible Yushchenko has been since he lost the last election.

Ukraine is a very curious countries these days. I suppose it's democracy when you lose an election and have your supporters hold the capital city hostage until you're allowed to take office, but only so long as you're pro-Western.

The pro-Russian portions of Ukraine are primarily in the east and south. The majority of the people of Ukraine are pro-west, at least, from what I have seen.

And like I said, the Western media only shows those pro-Western Ukrainians, and ignores the vast numbers of them that are pro-Russia. So your statement certainly makes sense in that regard.
