I think nukes should operate like bombers, only one time use, andhave a set range (say, 20 squares). Submarines should be able to carry nukes as opposed to great people, etc. This would be an easy mod to create but I am too lazy to do it. Any takers?
 
Are these just Boomer Subs or are ALL subs Carrying Nukes? I think it makes a good deal of sense to seperate Boomer and Attack subs the Boomers would have defend only tag and carry a Nuke, Attack subs well they... Attack!
 
The nukes that are made in Civ are ICBM, that is they have realisticly unlimited range. Perhaps a more civ 3ish system of having two diffrent kinds? One with limited range and one with unlimited range.
 
i've modded a tactical nuke that can be carried by a ohio-class sub with a range of 6. the sub has a capacity of 2 nukes. my icbms needs a missile-silo before they can be built. so, the only thing i want is that the ai uses also nukes or at least build them :)
 
i would like to see to see 2 different types of nuke in the game

1. ICBM - unlimited range but civs limited to say 5 at one time and in different cities

2. Sub-launched nukes - limited range no limit to how many civs can hold, although maybe allow subs to carry only 4 or something


in addition to that i think there should be 2 classes of sub in the game ie ballistic missile boat & hunter killers, with perhaps the hunter killers being able to carry cruise missiles

also how about a cruise missile capable cruiser or an area air defence ship perhaps the destroyer

i think i will add a mobile launcher too, so i can move some out of the cities.

i forget to mention: the tactical nuke has a radius of 1 field and the icbm one of 2 fields. but i haven't tested them under "real" terms ingame, cause i have at the moment quite little time to play and just started a new game two days ago and there i just played 2 turns, cause RL has interrupted :mischief:(/offtopic)
 
during cold war us was experimenting with hand held rocket nuclear weapons and also artillery capable of launching a nuclear warhead..

as imagined they would probably not work to good as in they would obviously kill the people using them...but who knows?, right
 
yes some mobile launcher should be also done - i'm remebering the very havy and huge ussr trucks moving 10 km per hours carrying rockets with nuclear warheads, usa probably has similliar stuff

i can actually make it for my mod but i don't find it really nesserely for small maps and game like civ4.
there is tactical nuke and icbm in my mod and it looks just enought ( on my opinion )
