I vote third party, just because Obama turned his back on the people when he voted for FISA.

Can i make a prediction ? Whoever gets elected US troops will never leave Iraq. The only thing that might change would be the words we would use to describe that fact.

Actually, both will pull troops out.

McCain even said Obama's plan is not bad at all, if it weren't for the fact that it does not take the unpredictable into account. In other words, if everything will be as smooth as a baby's butt, the withdrawal plan would work. That is Maliki's actual sentiment, too.

McCain had visited Maliki numerous times in Iraq. He knows what Maliki is thinking.

McCain: "He (Maliki) said it’s a pretty good timetable based on conditions on the ground. I think it’s a pretty good timetable, as we should — or horizons for withdrawal. But they have to be based on conditions on the ground."

I beg to differ. I believe they will both just withdraw some troops (that at that point would not be necessary any more), whatever they say now.

I understand your viewpoint, but the reason why I give both of them the benefit of the doubt is that Americans are going to hold both of them to it. That includes Americans in the South and the Great Plains.

Unless something radical happens in which case they can make it appear as they kept their promise till the end until the new reality forced them into changing plans. This is not a conspiracy theory , Politicians do it all the time. Claiming that they will certainly do it in this case is a conspiracy theory , so i say they may do that.

I guess we'll see.

Third party, please.

If not, I have to hope Obama wins just to smite the Republicans and crush their spirit. The Republicans deserve to be smashed into tiny little pieces and have their souls confiscated.

The republicans have a higher corruption density. Ted Stevens for one just got indicted today; the Republican governer of Alaska is also under corruption fire. The false imprisonment of Alabama governor Don Siegelman has republican fingers all over it (particularly Karl Rove's); Siegelman has said that when everything comes to light it will make Watergate look like child's play. And, if you want to bring up corruption, then the Keating Five scandal is certainly in play.

The Keating 5 were 4 Dems and McCain...and McCain acted appropriately from what I can see.

Why is that?

Don't even bother mentioning the administration or anyone that has nothing to do with McCain.

Mccain is more fitting for a ceremonial role as prez then executive.

he's too old. He has aged beyond that gray haired "good ol' senator" look, now he looks like he has recently risen from the tar pits.

We, in Ireland, can't figure out why people are even bothering to hold an election in the United States . On one side, you have a pants wearing lawyer, married to a lawyer who can't keep his pants on, who just lost a long and heated primary against a lawyer who goes to the wrong church who is married to yet another lawyer who doesn't even like the country her husband wants to run.
Now... On the other side, you have a nice old war hero whose name starts with the appropriate Mc terminology married to a good looking younger woman who owns a beer distributorship. What in the Lord's name are you lads thinking over there in the colonies??

Hahaha...thought this was worth the share.

I put McCain even though I am old enough to vote, almost though. I would not vote for Obama because I do not like that he says he will not support the wiretapping and then he voted for it atleast McCain went with what he believed, which was the surge in Iraq. Also Obama is a Socialist and I am a Conservative, but I do respect him

I just saw this in the Political Cartoons thread.

It fits me pretty well.

Kudos to bigdog.

Obama... the truth is, in my opinion as a social democrat, USA´s two party system where you vote for either the republicans (far right) or democrats (not so very far right) gives little choise or balance in the political sphere...

if you claim to be a socialist in the states you can still hear that you are a communist... though the two have very little in common...

so I voted Obama because it´s as socialist as it gets... and besides... I don´t like bush right now (i dig up all in my yard this week actually )
