Chapter One The Road to War
January, 1936
In 1936, Czechoslovakia was not in an admirable position, Indeed, it was an island of democracy, surrounded by enemies. To the West, Adolf Hitler's Germany had recently begun rearming, starting with their re militarization of the Rhineland. To the south lay Hungary, a broken and bitter nation filled with dreams of a new age, and to the East, lay Poland, confident in their ability to resist both Nazi Germany and the far more dangerous Soviet Union.
However, it was not without any advantage. While it lacked friends nearby, Czechoslovakia had beneficial relations with both France and the United Kingdom. While both would be unable to help Czechoslovakia in a land war directly, the air support and material aid it could provide would be invaluable to Czechoslovakia, as well as the pressures of a second front against Germany.
A welcoming reassurance for the Czech nation
It was in 1936 that the Czech military once again discussed their plan for an invasion of Czechoslovakia. Called "Defense Plan 001", it was quite simple in its design. Using fixed fortifications, heavy trench lines, anti tank weaponry, and a hard line of infantry, the Czech military was confident that any engagement would leave the attacker frustrated out of the Republic.
However, it came at that time that the Czechoslovakian government had to make its decision. With Germany's rearmament, the military felt the need to prepare for a war with Germany. And while they had 250,000 men under arms, there was one thing that was certain; the entire country could not be saved. Only the west would be saved, with Brno being the Easternmost point of the Czech defense. While there was disgruntlement, it was quite clear that this would be the only plan to ensure the nation survived.

OOC: Yes, the usual 1936 Road to War start. While it IS a bit gamey, I intend to hopefully survive this AAR relatively intact. Let's hope that France has the same ambitions or this may be a short lived AAR
