I wish to ask if the Federal Communications Commitee's October 3rd 2003 Order regarding the use of obscene language is applicable to this site as well.

The Order states that using the f-word 'as an adjective or expletive to emphasize an exclamation' is allowed, while it does not 'depict or describe sexual conduct'.

The order is a rejection of complaints over the pop singer Bono uterring the f-word during the Golden Globe Awards which was publicly aired.

I have no understanding as to which authority this site is responsible to.

the f word gets censored, regardless of context.

What I am getting at is, that it would then be a violation of free speech, if it is clear from the context that the f word is only used for emphasis and not to describe any sexual conduct.

but this isn't a democracy--tf is the law

There is no free speech on an internet forum. The administrator decides what's allowed, and you/we just have to live with that....

Indeed. The f-word as well as some other words are censored, so it doesn't matter. We won't be able to see them anyway. :p

I'd find it fun if TF would use

instead of ****. :D

Since censors are automatic, it'd be impossible to make it only censor the word when it's relating to something specific that it might not always relate to, such as sex.

Besides, just imagine if every time someone said, "**** you!" (uncensored) Thunderfall would have to ask the poster if he does or does not wish to engage in sexual contact with the person he was talking to.

Read the forum rules

Your rights to Freedom of Speech don't apply here.
You are welcome to have opinions. You are welcome to question certain subject matter posted on these forums. You are welcome to dislike a certain post or disagree with it. Though we typically condone people to express their opinions and ideas, we have the right to delete yours if necessary, should we consider it abusive.

On top of that, as has already been said, the censor is automatic for that word. It does not judge context.

"Obscenity Allowed? "

Not at CFC.
Much of mere vulgarity and profanity is also prohibitted.
