Just a couple things I’d like to point out.

-Some city states give unique units.
-The AI may declare war on you immediately if you give them a diplomatic action they don’t like.
-The AI is capable of conquering each other, Lafayette was destroyed by Amina.
-Building a large army is not optional, it seems like the strategy of building a few archers like in 5 and 6 isn’t going to cut it anymore.

The thing that stood out to me most was the chills I got from this:

Potato usually bothers me but I really liked his video. I've seen other videos where they say they will just play through the game without explaining all the new mechanics to those unfamiliar, but they usually still do or they jump cut way too often. Potato pretty much did absolutely minimal cutting and kept the talking to his exact strategizing. This did come at the cost of him making it significantly less far in his hour of gameplay than other creators but I enjoyed it and look forward to seeing him do an entire playthrough.

I know the AI was very ahead of him in yields on deity, but he didn't seem to be struggling much. He very much had what he considers a very strong strategy in mind, diplomatic like others have also been saying is strong, so maybe that was why. I'm surprised the AI didn't just rush a lot of settlers like they do in 6 and have seemed to do in other footage of 7 I've seen. The combat wasn't too hard but he was playing purely defensive with heavy combat strength bonuses from Tecumseh's ability to counteract the AI combat strength boost from deity.

The improvement you drop on Natural Wonders during growth events is called an “expedition base.” Not sure if it has any graphics or yields, I would presume not.

I was surprised Potato dropped a video that was 20 minutes over the authorized 1 hour time limit and then excused it with a 'ops sorry' 😉 . . . after every other content provider honored the 2k/Firaxis agreement.

Rules don't apply to him? And he just gets away with that because he has a lot of subscribers? I'd be pissed if I was one of the other content creators.

I wonder who follows and watches him anyway, he seems like a pretty unpleasant dude, especially how he interacts with his community sometimes.

Sounds like my workplace :) Let's see whether Firaxis takes the video down

He was attacked by Rome and I don't think Rome used a Commander. It's hard to tell on anything on most of the YouTube previews with out rewinding and passing. They are only able to show one hour so many are flying through.

I’m not his biggest fan, he comes off as condescending sometimes, however this was probably the best breakdown video I’ve seen so far. Personally I don’t think it’s a huge deal he went over the time limit and hopefully they just let it go.

He was able to do that because he ignored the time limit

He tends that way, but his presentation style is just the best there is. He talks quickly but intelligibly, explains his decisions with just enough detail, and has very well thought-out takes. Even where I disagree with him (I like narrative events, for one,) his perspective is always logical and clearly laid out. He has positions, and he sticks with them. Whether I would jive with him in real life is a question, but when it comes to Civ advice or opinions, he's probably the online figure I trust most for informed, honest, no-nonsense takes.

Rome had a commander but potato had super defensive terrain and lots of combat bonuses from city states and war support.

Quill18 has 6 videos totaling 1 hour and 45 minutes.

You can fortify a city tile by just having a unit spend a turn on it. Then that unit can go off and do other things and the city tile seems to stay fortified.

Circles the cursor around needlessly and frantically. Distracting.

Oh, ok. Seemed like an odd power to give for just hovering for a turn.

This was a pleasure to watch, it really showed the game in it's best light imo.

A couple of things of note:
AI get a combat bonus of 8 on Deity.

Finally see the tooltip for the Lighthouse and Ha'amonga 'a Maui wonder

Also we finally we see the city yield breakdown screen, I was beginning to wonder if something like this even existed!
