Observations from Potato’s video.

Bit off topic but isn't there a city in the British Isles that literally translates to "Hill Hill Hill Hill" or something like that?
Torpenhow Hill has made the rounds across social media before, but I don't think there's any evidence that the hill has ever been called that in any official capacity.

Not much from what i've seen (assuming it works like a regular DoT in most games and does it's damage at the start of the affected unit's turn). During one of the fights against the independent villages, one of the independent warriors was pretty low on health after being shot by multiple of his UUs and still managed to survive the DoT, attack the archer, and survive the fight.
A cool ability, that will add some damage, especially in long fights against fortified enemys, but it won't be a death sentence to the unit standing in the burning ground.

I've been paying attention to this because I was also worried about the timing, but in every stream I've seen the Antiquity age lasted around 70-90 turns, which corresponds to a 210-270 turn game if every age lasts the same duration. That seems to be in the ballpark of how long games last for these streamers when they aren't playing an OP strategy or extreme min-maxing.
Because they were playing on online speed….

Ursa Ryan seemed to start the game on standard and result was same.

His Antiquity Age playthrough is indeed on Standard speed, but the Age ended in Turn 125.

Do you know what setting he chose for Age speed?

I literally said "standard speed" in my comment that you are replying to - but here is a screenshot as confirmation:

My friend, Game Speed and Age Speed are “literally” separate settings.
Age length setting is different from game speed. It is under advanced which did not get touched as menu was not opened.

My bad; thank you for pointing that out. Since he did not show the advanced settings, the Age Speed is likely kept as it is.

In any case, it still looks like an Age should normally have more than 100 turns, corresponding to a 300-350 turn game. I would say the game pace looks reasonably fine at this point.

Agree that the pace seems ok, although with the way Ages work, this might be the first Civ game where I'm tempted to slow the game down further, rather than speed it up. I used to play VI on online speed, just to try and get through it, but I can see myself wanting to enjoy each Age for as long as possible before progressing to the next.

For me it seems that nobody get to research all age related tech and civics let alone properly use them.

Game speed setting should not even affect this as that should scale. However setting age length to long could help.

Online speed + slow ages?
