I am working on a OCC strategy to go from Emp to Immortal to Deity, meaning, I'm playing this strategy for some time, but going to Deity, I would need some tips.
This is the strategy so far:
I like to use Ethiopia, Inca, Egypt, Persia, or Siam for this and you must have a desert start (although you can use a other faith generating beliefs instead).
The strategy is gaining a fast religion, generating alot of Faith through Wonder building, to buy Great Artists Mid/Late Game to create a "Forever Golden Age" to increase Culture Output for a very long time at the same time buying up City States. Key Wonders: Stonehenge, Hanging Gardens, Petra, The Oracle, Alhambra, Sistine Chapel, Hermitage, The Louvre.
Build order through the classical age:
Scout, Monument, Shrine, Worker or Warrior or Scout or Stonehenge where SH takes precedence, Water Mill, Granary or Hanging Gardens where HG gets precedence, Petra, The Oracle, National College, Temple.
Tech Order through Classical Age:
Mining or AH, Pottery, Calendar, Ming or AH, beeline to Currency, Philosophy, Masonry if needed, beeline to Chivalry.
Policy order:
Tradition Opener, Legalism, Landed Elite, Monarchy, Aristocracy, and if you are building The Oracle, then Oligarchy to finish Tradition, then use the free policy to open Piety.
Religion Order:
Desert Folklore (or wine incense, gold silver, quarries, etc.), Tithe, Cathedrals, buy a Cathedral, then Enhance the religion- Divine Inspiration, Reliquary.
Buy Order:
As soon as I get 210 gold and I have 5 GPT, I trade with another civ 110 gold for 5 GPT, and buy a worker. Sell all lux's always for 240 gold, 209 if they are a little mad, or whatever you can to get to the 240 amount in GPT since the AI is so broke nowadays. Buy Archers, enough to surround your city by the time you are buying a Cathedral, As soon as you get Writing buy a Library, buy a market.
I like to settle next to a mountain for the later Observatory and Machu Picchu. Trade alot with other Civs. 5 GPT for 110 gold loan can save you unnecessary war later. I always make sure that the City is focused on Production, and settle to grow fast. If I am around 8-10 ending the classical era that is good. Whenever I am building a Wonder I focus hard on Production.
I am pretty successful on Emperor and when I play Immortal I can finish The Oracle and have three civs go from friends to DOW.
Classical to Renaissance Era:
Build order:
Nation Epic, Circus if you are sad, Stable, and for god's sake if you get Chichen Itza it's so good, Pikeman, and by this time you should have gotten a natural GE, which is used for Alhambra. Alhambra is a must have! HS, GM, GT, University, Oxford University, Sistine Chapel, Porcelain Tower if you can (bulb the GS), Hermitage, Taj Mahal, Observatory, wealth, science, or military if you find open spots, but focus hard on Wonders.
Tech order:
Beeline to Architecture, Beeline Archaeology. (Move spy to a sea faring civ like England, or to a civ with many coastal city's and steal sailing tech's from them to get to Archaeology fast.
Policy Order:
Organized Religion, Reformation, Mandate of Heaven, Religious Tolerance, Theocracy, then move to Patronage.
Religion:
Plant Great Prophets, all of them, you should get 4-5 of them until you open Freedom.
Buy Order:
City States, Military, any buildings you want or need fast, TRADE TRADE TRADE, take loans, Sell Lux's! Research agreements.
Until either you build CI or open Freedom you plant all GA's. there might be 3-5. If you build Chichen Itza, then you must plant at least two.
Industrial to Victory!
Build Order:
The Louvre, Public School, wealth.
Tech Order:
Beeline Radio
Policy Order:
If you are hurting on gold then open the Commerce tree. Work Down the Patronage Tree all is good, but once you get to the Industrial Era, go to the Freedom Tree. Prey you can get to Educated State before Freedom Opener.
Religion:
If you built CI, then after you plant 2 great artist, begin to start golden ages with ones you buy and ones you naturally make until you can get to turn 300-310. After that plant a few more if you can for the freedom finisher bonus.
Buy Order:
Sell Lux's, Take Loans even if you don't need to. Buy whatever you want, but BUY ALL CITY STATES.
Here is a pic opf my current win, 708 CPT, Turn 323 win.
